12 Things You Should Know About “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald”

Thanks to the book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, by J. K. Rowling, a saga was given life that has a development of characters presented in the original and which, in turn, functions as spin off of the Harry Potter story. Two years after the first part titled as the book, on November 16 it premiered Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwaldthe second part of this adventure.

1. Actors were added to the original cast

The characters that were introduced in the first film continue in the second part. They were joined by the likes of Jude Law, who plays magician Albus Dumbledore; Zoë Kravitz as Leta Lestrange; and Callum Turner as Newt’s older brother, Theseus Scamander.

2. We can learn more about Albus Dumbledore

In this film we know more details of the life of Dumbledore, played by actor Jude Law, and his fight against the dark magician Gellert Grindelwald, played by Johnny Depp. This battle is mentioned in the book Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

3. The core story

If you are a follower of the Harry Potter saga, you know that the oldest wand belongs to Dumbledore thanks to the battle he won against Grindelwald, in 1945. Twitter post and from the trailers presented, it could be assumed that the central story of the film could revolve around this wand.

4. Much of the plot takes place inside Hogwarts

With the representation of Jude Law as Dumbledore, the scene, fortunately, takes us through the corridors of the magic school where the Harry Potter saga developed, because at the time of the film, Professor Albus is young and teaches Newt Scamander, represented by Eddie Redmayne, protagonist of the first film.

5. Makes you travel without getting on a plane

Parts of the film were shot in New York, London and Paris. Therefore, it is possible that we travel back in time and return to some locations that appeared in the first film.

6. Nagini appears on the big screen

The mascot that, at the same time, functioned as a horcrux of Lord Voldemort, the great rival of Harry Potter, appears in the second part of this adventure, being interpreted by Claudia Kim. For the first time, we can see how this snake takes the form of a woman.

He lives in Paris and is played by actor Brontis Jodorowsky. This character brings to life the alchemist, maker and sole owner of the philosopher’s stone who will appear in the film, although he does not have the same appearance as he did in the first Harry Potter film.

9. The responsible director is David Yates

It was he who took over the direction of the last 4 Harry Potter films, jumping to fame as a director. Yates will be in charge of the 5 films of Fantastic Beastspromising to move each to different cities.

10. The story takes place in 1927

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them it takes place in the year 1926 and, this second part, in 1927. This small difference between the years allows us to return to the stories in New York where Newt Scamander, played by Eddie Redmayne, escaped in the first film.

11. Rowling is the screenwriter

Joanne Rowling, the creator of the beloved Harry Potter story, is the screenwriter of this second part. The writer shared that Warner Bros and director David Yates let her have her say, but that doesn’t always mean she has the last word, as it’s a collaborative effort. On May 30 of this year, she responded on her page that she was working on the script for the third part of Fantastic Beastswhich will be released in 2020.
