12 Facts that will change your perception of time

Time is a relative concept. Many things seem immutable to us and we believe they have always existed. Also, we usually call people we know at a certain time. But sometimes we discover things that completely change our perception of time.

O awesome.club gathered facts about time that are not very easy to believe but are true.

1. When the movie “Star Wars” was released in France, they still used the guillotine for executions

The first film in the “Star Wars” saga was released on May 25, 1977, while the last execution by guillotine was carried out in Marseille on September 10, 1977, being also the last in Western Europe. The official use of the guillotine was canceled in France, along with the abolition of the death penalty, in 1981.

2. Two people who were born at the same time on Earth can celebrate their birthday on different days.

It all has to do with the existence of time zones around the planet.

3. Martin Luther King, Anne Frank and actor Christopher Plummer were born in the same year

4. Cleopatra lived closer to opening McDonald’s than building the pyramids

It might seem that Cleopatra and the Egyptian pyramids are a symbol of the same era. However, it is not so. Cleopatra was born in the year 69 BC, the date on which the Great Pyramid of Giza “turned” 2,471 years old. So the queen and the opening of the first MacDonald’s have much less time difference: 2024 years.

A Hawaiian Airlines plane departed Auckland at 00:05 on January 1, 2018. Passengers on the flight were lucky enough to celebrate the arrival of the year 2018 twice as the plane landed in Honolulu at 10:16 am location, on December 31, 2017.

7. The grandchildren of US President John Tyler, who was born in the 18th century, still live among us

Let’s imagine the entire history of Earth in one year. Thus, on December 1st, terrestrial vertebrates appear. Dinosaurs die on December 26th and humans appear on December 31st at 23:35.

12. We are currently closer to 2033 than to 2000

When we say “10 years ago”, we all still think of the 90s and not the 2000s. However, we are a long way from the second millennium: 18 years have passed and there are only 15 to 2033.
