11 Things your dog wants you to know

Dogs in the United States are very popular, almost 90 million of them are part of a family as a pet and many more are deciding to adopt one, so we should know everything about them. However, we cannot always decipher if a dog is giving us a warning or is uncomfortable. Maybe there are some things our furry friends would like us to know so we can understand them better.

At the awesome.club We love dogs and that’s why we’ve prepared this list of very common body language signals so you can understand what your pet is thinking or feeling.

1. relaxed

Ears are up but not forward Mouth open, tongue out Tail relaxed

Your dog is relaxed and comfortable and saying “I like it”.

2. Confident

Belly up Turned back

This is the biggest sign of confidence. Scratching your tummy means you’re happy and it’s like a gift to your furry friend.

3. Asking for attention

Head on his knees Looks you in the eyes Ears relaxed

Your dog is asking for attention. When he puts his snout over your leg, he’s saying, “Give me a cuddle!”

4. Curious

Ears up or forward Tail slightly raised in half

The dog feels curious, has found something very interesting and is going to explore it.

5. Need a break

Licking his nose has nothing to do with food, it really means the dog is stressed and needs a break from what he is doing, like training for example.

6. Alert

7. It’s giving a warning

Focused eyes Ears forward Mouth closed Tail horizontal and can move slightly from side to side Stands slightly forward

The difference that is noticeable compared to the evaluation phase is the closed mouth. The dog really doesn’t like the situation and starts to feel defensive. A closed mouth and focused gaze are the first warning signs that the dog is telling you to “stay away”.

8. angry

Ears forward, can be extended slightly to the side, forming a wide V Nose wrinkled Wrinkled forehead Raised tail Hair standing up Mouth open, teeth visible

The dog is showing that it is angry and that it is a dominant dog.

9. Scared and submissive

Body crouching Tail down, may be gently swaying Ears back Light eye contact Occasionally, may lift paw

The dog is afraid but tries to avoid any conflict and accepts the higher rank of the threatening individual, which could be a human, another dog or any other animal.

10. Scared and aggressive

Crouched body Corners of lips slightly open Ears back Hair standing

The dog is very stressed and scared, but it is not submissive and can attack at any time.

11. Playful
