11 Film Adaptations of Famous Books Coming to the Big Screen in 2022

The year 2022 promises many film adaptations of wildly popular books, including some that have never been adapted for the screen. We are looking forward to a film based on the novel by Jane Austen, a production about the life of Marilyn Monroe and a new version of Interview with the Vampire.

The story of Anne Elliott, a 27-year-old Englishwoman, who seven years after ending her engagement accidentally meets her ex-fiancé, is considered the writer’s most mature novel. Dakota Johnson, known for her role as Anastasia Steele in the critically acclaimed Fifty Shades of Grey, will play the modest aristocrat Anne. And her fiance will be lived by Cosmo Jarvis. Producers promise to show a modern vision of the well-known story.

The first film adaptation of one of Anne Rice’s most successful novels, Interview With the Vampire, opened in 1994 and immediately became a worldwide hit. In 2022, a series based on the book will be released.

The new version of Interview with the Vampire tells the story of a Louisiana Creole named Louis, who, 200 years after his transformation into a vampire, decides to talk about his life. The role of Louis, played in the feature by Brad Pitt, went to Jacob Anderson, known for portraying the Gray Worm in Game of Thrones. And Lestat, who for many viewers is strongly associated with Tom Cruise, will be embodied by Australian actor Sam Reid.

The most famous adaptation of the book Peter and Wendy, by James Barrie, is the 1953 cartoon. 14 years old, in the role of Wendy.

The film tells the story of a boy, Peter, who knows how to fly without wings and refuses to grow up. The character lives with some other boys and little fairies on a magical island called Neverland. One day, he meets the girl Wendy and her younger brothers and takes them to his island.

The story is set in Ireland in 1862 and based on a true event known as “Fasting Girls”. 11-year-old Anna refuses to eat, but miraculously remains alive and well.

To observe the girl, the nurse Lib Wright (played by Florence Pugh) arrives in the village. In the course of the narrative, she begins to suspect that everything in this village is not that simple.

The book The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart is the debut of Australian writer Holly Ringland, which was sold in 30 countries around the world. The work covers a period of 20 years of the protagonist’s life.

After a tragedy with her parents, the girl Alice moves to her grandmother’s flower farm, where she discovers her family’s secrets and begins to study the language of flowers to express what is difficult to say in common words.

A TV series of the same name, based on the work, will be released soon, starring Alycia Debnam-Carey and Sigourney Weaver.

The Storied Life of AJ Fikry is an emotional and lively novel by American writer Gabrielle Zevin. The book gained recognition from readers all over the world. And in 2022 the eponymous film will be released, with the participation of Christina Hendricks, Lucy Hale and Kunal Nayyar.

According to the plot, the owner of a bookstore is on the verge of bankruptcy. In addition, a valuable edition of poetry was stolen from his shop. The character becomes increasingly disappointed with people and the world. But one day a mysterious order arrives at the store, and his life begins to change.

Horror movie fans are waiting for the year 2022 to adapt the book Mr. Stephen King’s Harrigan’s Phone. Dozens of movies and TV series are based on the books by this popular writer, and the feature The Shawshank Redemption, a film adaptation of one of his novels, is at number one on the list of Best Movies on the IMDb website.

At the center of the narrative is a boy named Craig, who does some odd jobs for an elderly recluse, Mr. Harrigan. Thanks to their interest in books and smartphones, the boy and the old billionaire develop a friendship. When Harrigan dies, the young man sends his deceased friend a message and suddenly receives a message back.

The protagonists will be lived by Donald Sutherland and Jaeden Martell, who, by the way, already starred in the thriller It — The Thing, based on another work by the famous writer.

Director Robert Zemeckis, who produced the legendary Back to the Future and Forrest Gump – The Storyteller, took over the film adaptation of The Adventures of Pinocchio, by Carlo Collodi. The role of Pinocchio’s “father” is played by Tom Hanks, and the cast also includes Luke Evans and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

The film is a cinematic recreation of the classic Disney cartoon. Pinocchio, from 1940, was Walt Disney’s second animated feature film. The new production will include original music created in the last century, and the new soundtracks will be composed by Alan Silvestri (Back to the Future, The Avengers and The Witches Convention).

The School for Good and Evil is a series of books by American writer Soman Chainani, which tell the story of two friends at a magic school, where students are trained to be heroes or villains. Sophie dreams of becoming a princess and marrying a prince, while Agatha is gloomy and unsociable. However, the first is enrolled in the Escola do Mal and the second in the Escola do Bem.

The film adaptation of Soman Chainani’s work is considered one of the most anticipated projects of 2022, and some already predict that it will be as successful as the Harry Potter franchise. Sophie and Agatha will be played by young actresses Sophia Anne Caruso and Sofia Wylie, while Charlize Theron will appear on screen as a teacher at the School of Evil.

A biographical film about the life of Norma Jean Baker, known worldwide as Marilyn Monroe, will soon be released on the big screen. The role of the diva will be played by Ana de Armas. The film is the film adaptation of the 2000 book of the same name by Joyce Carol Oates.

The writer herself insists that her work should be seen as fiction and not as a biography of the actress.
