11 Curious Details in “Pirates of the Caribbean” That Many Fans May Not Have Noticed

The Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchise has captured the hearts of thousands of fans around the world, and continues to delight us with all the details that have been added to each new film, which many may not have noticed the first time they saw it. Some that even serve to further enrich the created universe and take us on a true adventure.

In the second film in the franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, in the scene in which the character Elizabeth invents that there is a ghost on the ship to prevent the crew from discovering her, she writes the word Tortuga in fire. However, what few people noticed is that the font used is the same as the Disney logo.

Disney often puts Mickey hidden in some of their works. You can see one in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End on the map that leads to the fountain of youth. In the lower right corner you can see the image of the famous mouse.

Several pirates appearing in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise were inspired by people who actually existed. Blackbeard, the main villain of the movie Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, was based on Edward Teach. In fact, he also sailed on a ship called Queen Anne’s Revenge, as in the work.

In the movie Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, Captain Jack Sparrow happily sings a song saying he had a jar of dirt. This part was actually not in the script and was done impromptu, so the reaction of the people around was real.

One of the inspirations for Captain Jack Sparrow’s iconic look and mannerisms was taken from The Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards. An interesting detail is that the musician even made an appearance in the movie Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, just like Jack Sparrow’s father, Captain Teague.

One of the solidified facts of the franchise is that Captain Jack Sparrow’s compass does not point to the north, but to what the person most desires, and it is thanks to it that we realize a detail that manages to enrich the franchise even more. Early in the movie Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, when Commodore Norrington captures the captain, it is possible to see the compass pointing directly at Jack, indicating that Norrington’s greatest wish is to see him arrested.

Another interesting detail from the movie Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl is Captain Jack Sparrow’s tattoo, which was used to recognize him in the work. It shows a sparrow, which is called a sparrow in English and directly references the captain’s name.

The dog that we see with the keys in its mouth in the movie Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl appears living adventures in other films of the franchise. For example, on Pelegostos Island in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest and then on the Brotherhood Court in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End. The explanation for why he got there is sea turtles, referring to one of the stories told about Captain Jack Sparrow’s escape from a desert island.

In Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, Will Turner is wounded with a very familiar sword. This, in fact, was the one he made and delivered to Commodore Norrington in the first film in the franchise and was in the possession of Davy Jones after Norrington helped Elizabeth escape the ship.

At Tia Dalma’s house, Jack Sparrow finds a black hat with feathers. If you pay close attention, you’ll notice that it’s the same one used by Barbossa, who returns to the franchise at the end after it’s revealed that Tia Dalma revived him.

One of the ships in the franchise was taken from Star Trek: Generations. The HMS Interceptor, from the movie Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, is the Lady Washington, who appears in Generations under the name Enterprise.
