1. Companies make houses for solitary bees
We all know the importance of bees, but little do we know that some are solitary and seek safe holes to shelter. A consequence of deforestation and man-made environmental problems. 6. Solar powered artesian well in Rio Grande do Norte
To fight the drought and help rural people to produce again, a rural community in the Seridó region, in Rio Grande do Norte, won an artesian well. With the union of residents and specialists, the first solar-powered artesian well was inaugurated at the Juá site, in São João do Sabugi. The idea is to install another 200 units throughout this year, with clean energy at no cost.
7. The first hydroponic roof, invented by a Brazilian
Agronomist Sérgio Rocha had support from Fapesp — Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo — and the Ministry of Science and Technology to develop his idea of a cultivable green roof. The invention is computerized and works like living plant tissue — it’s made of polyurethane that helps distribute water. It allows plants and various foods to be grown and also helps to control the temperature of the environment.
