10 Natural remedies that help stop snoring

Have you ever had to spend a sleepless night because of your partner’s loud snoring? Or, worse yet, have you ever been awakened by your own snoring? Despite what is thought on this subject, snoring is completely normal and almost everyone suffers from this problem. We snore because our throats relax a lot when we fall into a deep sleep and begin to vibrate. However, snoring too loudly can cause insomnia, alter our sleep patterns, and irritate those around us.

At the awesome.clubwe have gathered all the information about the most effective natural remedies that will help to eliminate snoring and prevent the emergence of much more serious problems such as insomnia, weight gain and anxiety.

Snoring occurs because, while we sleep, we begin to lose air through our throat and nose. This causes the surrounding tissue to vibrate, which results in loud snoring. In some cases, people who snore have more nasal tissue (uvula) and are more prone to vibration.

1. Try some peppermint oil and hydrastis

Snoring sometimes occurs when a person has a lot of nasal or chest congestion. Peppermint oil can help to unclog the paranasal passages due to conditions like sinusitis and sore throat. It usually acts as an expectorant that helps clear the airways, remove mucus, and reduce congestion. Some studies have shown that the compounds present in peppermint oil have many antimicrobial, antiviral and antioxidant properties, which means that it can also fight infections in the respiratory system.

THE hydrastis canadensis is an herbaceous plant that acts as a other snoring treatment. May relieve congestion in the chest and nasal passages. It is mainly found in natural remedies for allergies and colds, due to its antibiotic properties and effective in strengthening the immune system. Some studies suggest that medicinal plants such as hydrastis canadensis may improve immune function by increasing the production of antigen-specific antibodies, making it an ideal natural remedy for bronchitis.

2. Take some vitamin C

Vitamin C is the best natural remedy when it comes to boosting the immune system and promoting respiratory health.. One of the main causes of snoring is the blockage of the airways, caused by our sinuses. This causes the mouth to open and the uvula or throat bell (fleshy extension on the back of the palate overhanging the throat) to vibrate.

If you consume enough vitamin C, it will help clear your sinuses. Some of the best vitamin C-rich foods you can consume are broccoli, oranges, lemons, bell peppers, papaya, and most importantly, pineapple. The latter also contains an agent that fights sinus congestion called bromelain (an enzyme known for its anti-inflammatory capabilities).

Drink a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice or a few slices of pineapple an hour before bed.

3. Peppermint and Fenugreek

Digestion plays a vital role in our sleep patterns and could be one of the reasons why it is disrupted by snoring.. Peppermint and fenugreek are plants that can cure snoring caused by indigestion or diseases in the digestive tract such as gastritis. In addition, they reduce inflammation in the body, such as bronchitis, tissue infection and chronic cough.

Both can help you get rid of excess stomach acid and greatly reduce your chances of snoring. Fenugreek can help fight sleep apnea and improve digestive health, while peppermint relieves indigestion and reflux symptoms.

Each of these herbs can be found in a variety of forms: liquid, powder, and pills.

4. Eucalyptus

Eucalyptus is the most used medicinal plant to relieve colds. and is also prized for its ability to reduce inflammation and improve all sorts of respiratory ailments. Approximately 70% to 90% of eucalyptus oil extract is rich in antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties.

It can also fight bacterial, viral and fungal infections while helping to keep the respiratory tract clear and prevent mucus buildup. There are several ways to apply eucalyptus oil extract to stop snoring overnight.

Add some eucalyptus leaves to a vaporizer and breathe through your nose and mouth to help clear your sinuses. You can also try using an inhalation container. Place your head over it with hot water and cover yourself with a towel to inhale the steam. You should do this before going to bed to help clear your airways and reduce inflammation in your nasal passages.

5. Consider an appointment with a dentist

You may need to talk to your doctor about having a dental evaluation for treatment that helps open your airways so your tongue has enough space and you can breathe normally. There are some reports from the American Dental Association on devices used during sleep hours that claim to be generally effective in the snoring process.

An oral appliance fits in the mouth like an orthodontic retainer, keeping the mandible in an advanced position that allows the upper airway to remain open.

6. Pay attention to your weight

Sometimes excess fat, especially around the neck, can make your throat narrower when you lie down, which increases the chances of snoring. According to a study conducted by Lung India, the neck circumference of patients who snored was significantly larger than the neck circumference of those who did not snore.

This shows that people’s neck size plays an important role in snoring, and those who are overweight are more likely to snore than those who are not, due to the narrowing of the airways. Controlling your weight can improve your sleep patterns and your respiratory health.

7. Get a humidifier

If your snoring is caused by nasal congestion or allergies, then dry air can make your symptoms worse. In fact, it contributes to snoring because it dries out the throat and nasal membranes, creating congestion. Congestion then restricts the free path for breathing, causing the tissue to vibrate.

A humidifier can be the ideal solution to this problem.. It will eliminate dry air from the room and create a more comfortable environment for your body, lungs and breathing process. If you wish, you can also add some essential oils such as peppermint or eucalyptus.

8. Quit smoking

Cigarettes irritate the lining of the sinus cavities and throat, causing it to swell. When our nostrils become congested from smoking, it is more difficult to breathe through the nose because the airflow is reduced.

When this happens, you are much more likely to snore, and congestion increases with each cigarette. Even those who do not smoke and inhale the smoke of other smokers nearby are more likely to develop chronic inflammation of the nasal passages and throat, which increases the risk of snoring.

If you are not psychologically ready to stop smoking, you can start by reducing your consumption and avoiding smoke inhalation for at least 4 hours before going to bed.

9. Change your eating habits

As we mentioned earlier, a diet rich in antioxidants and enzymes that reduce inflammation in the body is the best way to stop snoring. Consuming dairy products just before bed can make snoring worse, as it leaves a layer of mucus in the throat and mouth, which increases the blockage of the airways.

Also, avoid eating very large portions of food before bed.. When your stomach is full, it pushes on the diaphragm and affects the normal rhythm of breathing, which increases your propensity to snore, as it takes more air to circulate through your body.

Foods to avoid:

Fried foods Dairy products Alcohol Chocolate Processed foods Simple carbohydrates
