10 Feng Shui tips to harmonize your home

An ancient Chinese technique to bring well-being into the home, Feng Shui teaches how to compose healthier and more harmonious environments from patterns of energetic vibration. The idea is that the place where you are, be it your home or office, provides the feeling of physical, mental and spiritual balance.

“Every living or working space is like a living body, whose organs are its various environments. For health to exist, everyone needs to be in harmony with everyone else”, explains consultant Silvana Occhialini, founder of the Brazilian Institute of Feng Shui.

Believe it or not in the mystical part, the fact is that rooms organized within these guidelines look really amazing. The beauty comes from the harmonious combination of colors and also from the arrangement of the furniture to better enjoy the
space.

Obviously, to get a complete and accurate advice, the ideal is to consult a specialist in the Chinese technique, but what many people don’t know is that there are some simple and easy Feng Shui practices to implement at home or at work. Check out some of them:

1. Keep the front door clear. Many people usually fill the front door of the house with vases, ornaments and columns, but this habit is not recommended by Feng Shui. The ideal is that the space is free so as not to block the flow of energy to the house.

2. Do not block passages with furniture. Following the same logic, the arrangement of furniture in the rooms must always allow free movement. Furniture blocking entrances can mean various types of limitations, such as, for example, difficulty managing life.

3. Avoid placing furniture and objects between two doors. In the oriental technique, this can create an obstacle to the approximation between two people, generating problems of misunderstandings and conflicts.

4. If possible, avoid windows and mirrors directly in front of the front door. Otherwise, all the energy that enters, attracted by the light, dissipates through the window or the reflection of the mirror. When it doesn’t work, a curtain on the window can help mitigate the loss of energy. Another option is to hang a multifaceted crystal in the distance between the door and the window.

5. Stairs must not be built in front of entrance doors! To prevent the energy that enters through the front door from escaping from the ground floor and only going to the upper floor. The multifaceted crystal (or a beautiful screen) can also help alleviate this situation.

6. Entrance door and bathroom door cannot be aligned. The bathroom is the heaviest room in the house because it sucks up a lot of energy, so lining it up with the front door is the same as opening a channel for all the absorbed energy to literally go down the drain. Financial problems and digestive disorders are a tendency for those who live in this environment. A mirror on the bathroom door or a screen can help.

7. Never leave the bed with its back to the door or window! Feng Shui believes that poorly placed beds can mean betrayal. Receive the energy always head on! It is important that the bedroom is also composed of light colors that convey calm, such as blue, violet or light green, to help with sleep.

8. Eliminates corners and furniture that can hurt. If every time you walk through the room, you bump your knee on the coffee table, the message you are sending to your brain is that your home is not a safe place. Put protectors on the farms and don’t hesitate to get rid of furniture and objects that hurt in passing.

9. Don’t put off fixing things! Broken and poorly cared for things at home reflect things unresolved internally. Fix what no longer works and throw away what no longer works.

10. Bring plants indoors! As used as we are to the city, the fact is that our essence is natural and we miss the green and the contact with nature. There are several species of easy-to-care plants suitable for indoors, such as chrysanthemum, Saint George’s sword, cactus and violet.
