10 Couples from soap operas that did not convince the public due to the lack of chemistry between the actors

Choosing an accurate protagonist couple is one of the many secrets of a soap opera’s success. In addition to the engaging love story, which needs to win viewers over with good doses of conflict, it is necessary to cast interconnected actors who guarantee the famous chemistry on the scene. However, the passionate duo on the small screen are not always able to please the soap operas on duty.

The forbidden love story of Maya (Juliana Paes) and Bahuan (Márcio Garcia) promised to move the chapters of Caminho das Índias. But the lack of chemistry between the actors turned away the public’s support for the couple.

The interpreter of the good guy, who was criticized for his performance considered inexpressive, ended up losing the post of protagonist. The heroine, then, lived her happy ending alongside Raj (Rodrigo Lombardi).

The weak romantic couple formed by Alice (Giovanna Antonelli) and Mario (Bruno Gagliasso), in Sol Nascente, also failed to excite the audience. The negative reaction to the duo of protagonists ended up making room for other characters in the plot to steal the spotlight.

Among the supporting roles that started to gain more prominence were the roles of Letícia Spiller and Marcello Novaes. The actors, repeating the partnership that enshrined them as Babalu and Raí in Quarto por Quatro, drew attention playing the couple Lenita and Vittorio.

If the duo Manuela (Milena Toscano) and Solano (Murilo Rosa), the main couple of the soap opera Araguaia, lacked spice, the chemistry was left over when the hero appeared on the scene alongside the villain, Estela (Cleo Pires).

Unlike Pega Pega, Geração Brasil was not an audience success. Betting high on technology-related themes, the telenovela promised to hook the young audience with a plot that tried to be more modern. But the idea foundered.

Furthermore, some couples in the story just didn’t work out, as was the case with Verônica and Jonas Marra. There was a lack of chemistry to convince the viewer of the romance between Taís Araujo’s character and Murilo Benício’s good guy.

In Além do Horizonte, the duo of good guys played by Lili (Juliana Paiva) and William (Thiago Rodrigues) did not succeed. To complete, the soap opera suffered from low ratings, which forced the authors to promote a real exchange of couples.

A jealous good guy and a hero who didn’t follow her mother’s advice. The protagonist couple of Em Família, in fact, did not have the necessary charisma to win the public’s graces. No wonder, Manoel Carlos’ soap opera suffered from a weak audience.

O Sétimo Guardião was a soap opera marked by many controversies. From an accusation of plagiarism against the author, Aguinaldo Silva, to reports of disagreements between the cast, the news about the backstage of the plot revealed a delicate situation.

The chemistry of the main couple, Luz (Marina Ruy Barbosa) and Gabriel (Bruno Gagliasso), also left something to be desired and not even the hectic atmosphere behind the cameras, which was widely covered by the media, was able to raise the audience for the serial.

When Estrela-Guia went on the air, in 2001, the singer Sandy was only 18 years old: she faced the challenge of giving life to Cristal, the protagonist of the telenovela. To play his romantic partner, the already veteran Guilherme Fontes, at the time 34, was cast by Globo.

The age difference even caused a stir, but it was the fact that Tony, Guilherme’s character, was the girl’s godfather that ended up causing controversy among the public. Still, the couple’s affective relationship was taken until the end of the story.
