There are personalities who were (and still are) so much a part of the Brazilian art scene that we could swear they were born here. The ultimate example of this is that the iconic Carmem Miranda, a true national symbol, was Portuguese. Other actors like Sophie Charlotte, Giullia Buscacio and Giulia Gam were also born in Europe, can you believe it?

The late Elke Maravilha was born in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The artist came to Brazil when she was just six years old, as her family suffered political persecution. She was a huge hit with her wigs and edgy outfits during the 70s and 80s.

Charles Paraventi played a character that marked the soap opera Workout: Professor Afranio. But did you know that he was born in the United States? And it was in New York where his career began, when he was performing magic shows at the age of 5. The actor came to Brazil at the age of 17, entered a theater course in Rio de Janeiro a few years later and the rest is history.
