10 Celebrities Who Are Proud to Raise LGBTQIA+ Children

Queer kids from a young age realize that they are different from others. According to one study, 1% of 9- and 10-year-olds identify as gay, bisexual, or transgender. When this happens, it is especially important for parents to be understanding and considerate of their children. Fortunately, we see more and more celebrities setting an example of acceptance and unconditional love.

Charlize Theron

Charlize Theron adopted her daughter Jackson in 2012 and introduced her to the world for the first time as a boy. However, in an interview in 2019, the actress revealed that Jackson was a transgender girl. Charlize Theron, whose top priority is ensuring the well-being of Jackson and her sister August, highlighted the importance of using the correct pronouns as her daughter feels hurt when people refer to her as a man.

She has admitted that she was unsure about her sexuality growing up, and her first relationship was with a girl. Even before her parents knew, Miley believed they would understand, which is not surprising as Billy Ray Cyrus supports the LGBT community and has spoken out against discriminatory laws.

Will Smith and Jada Pinkett

Sia adopted two children in 2019, both aged 18 at the time. One of them came out as gay, according to the singer. Sia never mentions her name to protect her identity. A little later, in 2020, she announced that she would become a grandmother, as her youngest child became a father of two children.

Johnny Depp

In 2015, the daughter of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis, Lily-Rose Depp, aged 16 at the time, participated in the project The Self Evident Truths (The Self Evident Truths, in free translation). This campaign aimed to promote sexual fluidity, applied to those who identify as anything other than 100% heterosexual. The celebrity dad also wore a “We Are You” project T-shirt to support Lily-Rose.
