10 Artists who, due to their great dedication to their roles, deserve a standing ovation

The ambitions of many actors and actresses are not limited to high fees and the coveted Oscar. Most of them consider it much more important to convey to the audience the depth of a character, showing a plausible and dignified image on the screen. Therefore, some performers seriously prepare for filming and end up surprising viewers with really magnificent performances.

We, from awesome.clubwe support all the dedication and determination of the actors and we have to admit that, thanks to their persistence, some of them actually manage to “get under the skin” of their characters.

Julia Garner — Inventing Anna

Julia Garner had just three weeks to prepare for the role of the glamorous and mysterious Anna Delvey. The real Anna lived in several countries, which greatly affected the way she spoke, and in that short time, the actress managed to develop the character’s specific accent.

To match Anna’s image, Julia wore a denture during filming. It was the actress herself who proposed this idea, and the director approved it. In fact, with the prosthesis, her face was more like the character.

Furthermore, Julia met the real Anna and commented that she found her very sweet and humorous.

Austin ButlerElvis

Austin Butler, who played the main role in the feature film Elvis, carefully studied the archives of the famous singer. The actor remembers that he watched as many Elvis Presley videos as possible, as he felt a great responsibility to Elvis himself, his family and all his fans.

According to the plot, the character helps her parents in the fishing business and also sings in a choir. Therefore, Emilia had to learn to fish and sing.

Kirsten Dunst — Attack of the Dogs

It’s true that her character, Rose, is a supporting character in the story, but Kirsten Dunst prepared with the same tenacity for filming, as if it were a starring role. For this performance, the actress had to learn to play the piano.

By coincidence, the actress’s husband, Jesse Plemons, played a major role in the production, and the couple rehearsed some scenes on their own. Kirsten Dunst confessed to trying to talk as little as possible with people on set, sometimes she was completely mute, so that nothing would affect her voice during the recordings.

Gwendoline Christie — Game of Thrones

To look as much like her character as possible, Gwendoline Christie decided not to rely solely on her natural features (like her height). Even before the test, the actress began to train hard and lost almost 10 kg.

After being approved for the role, Gwendoline continued to train and gained about 6 kg of muscle mass.

However, the hardest thing for the actress was having to sacrifice her hair. In an interview, she revealed that when they cut her hair, she cried for two hours. In real life, Gwendoline is very feminine: she wears beautiful dresses, makeup and high heels.

Michael C. Hall – Dexter

In preparing for the filming of Dexter, Michael C. Hall did some research on criminals, their motives and methods. To better understand the role, Michael even imagined that people possessed the typical qualities of his character’s victims.

Emma Watson – Noah

In the feature Noah, Emma Watson plays the pregnant wife of Noah’s child. The actress herself never gave birth, but she wanted pregnancy and childbirth to look natural in the film. So she sought out relevant information from other women, from midwives, and watched various films and videos.

Emma asked the costume designers to make a fake belly the same weight as a real twin pregnancy. The next day, the actress complained to the costume designer that she was very tired, completely exhausted with the costume. She received in response that the fake belly was the weight of only one baby.

Benedict Cumberbatch — Attack of the Dogs
