10 Animals Who Saved Their Families And Turned Into True Heroes

A pet is the guarantee of a daily dose of joy and affection. Animals’ behavior is always so unpredictable that, when we least expect it, they surprise us with some new way of loving. But what few people know is that animals can also save lives, and the cases we present today show that some are willing to do anything to take care of their families.

James White, from Sonoma, California, was fishing in Bodega Bay while his dog was in his car a few feet away. He felt a fish catch, started to pull and discovered that he had caught a white shark of almost 2 meters in length, which decided to swim towards him.

In an attempt to remove the hook, the shark sank its teeth into James’ leg, who fell to the ground, trapped and in great pain. Hearing the owner’s screams, Darby managed to open the car door and tried to bite the shark’s gills. Then the dog bit the shark’s tail hard and managed to get it to let go of James.

Bandit is 15 years old and lives in a family with 3 dogs, 9 cats and some hamsters in Lincolnshire, UK. Marie Smith, owner of the heroic kitten, told the BBC that one day she and her companion went to sleep and suddenly Bandit started behaving strangely.

Bandit approached Marie while she was sleeping and started scratching her face, to wake her up and warn her that the kitchen was on fire. When Marie realized what was happening, she woke up her companion David and together they got all the animals out of the house and called the fire department. Luckily, and mainly because of the cat, everyone was saved.

Audrey is a visually impaired lady in her 60s. One day, returning home from a walk through the streets of New York with her dog, Figo, a golden retriever guide dog, she was almost the victim of a big accident.

The driver didn’t realize that Audrey was in the middle of the street. Figo realized that the driver wasn’t going to stop and put himself between her and the bus, in an attempt to protect her. The dog had some fractures, but recovered after some surgeries on the leg. After some time, he returned to his mistress’s house as a great hero.

Ethan and his mother, Amy, who suffers from diabetes, stopped by an animal shelter and met Pudding and Wimsy. The 2 animals won the heart of the family, who decided to adopt them on the same day. The 2 quickly adapted to their new home.

One night, Amy has an attack related to the disease. Pudding tried to wake her up and sat on her chest. Upon realizing that the strategy didn’t work, he scratched her face. Unfortunately, Amy was not in a position to ask for help for her son and that’s when Pudding decided to go to his room to wake him up. When Ethan realized something wasn’t right, he ran to his mother and immediately called an ambulance.

One day, Mrs Ackerley was in her garden and thought that the man in the street wanted to ask for directions to go somewhere and opened the gate. However, the man wanted to steal it and attacked it by hitting its head.

But the thief did not count on the presence of Axel, a mix of Akita and German shepherd. Sensing that the owner was in danger, he attacked the intruder, threw him to the ground and bit his arm. The thief got away and Axel turned into a great hero.

Annette is from Wisconsin, USA, and nearly died of carbon monoxide poisoning while her husband, Kevin, was sleeping. The savior was Gracie, a beautiful kitten who realized something wasn’t right.

Kevin was surprised, because Gracie never tried to enter his room. After noticing the cat’s insistence, Kevin decided to get up to see what was going on. He quickly noticed that Annette was dizzy, with symptoms of intoxication. Firefighters were triggered and realized that carbon monoxide levels were very high. If it weren’t for Gracie, the end of the story would have been different.

This other story took place in Michigan. Bob was alone in his country house when he decided to go out to get firewood. On the way, he tripped, fell and broke his neck. Frightened, he began to scream, but none of the neighbors heard him.

Kelsey, his 5-year-old golden retriever, left the house to look for him and stayed by his side for more than 20 hours, trying to warm him up. During that time, the dog did not stop barking to try to attract the attention of the neighbors. His efforts paid off and Bob was taken to the hospital. Although he was hypothermic, he didn’t suffer any serious fractures and didn’t freeze to death from Kelsey’s efforts to keep him warm.

Charotte Dixon woke up during the night because she didn’t feel very well. She thought it could be the flu or some other virus and that she just needed to rest to feel better. However, her kitten, Theo, started behaving strangely and wouldn’t let her go back to bed. He began to meow and scratch various objects to get her attention.

After some time, Charlotte talked to her mother and she decided to call an ambulance. She had to spend a week in the hospital because of a blood clot. According to doctors, if not for Theo’s help, she would have died. For the heroic act, he was chosen cat of the year.

Maya was 18 years old and at her boyfriend’s house when she decided to take her dog for a walk at 10 pm. When she arrived at the park, she decided to take the collar off of Apollo, who had a few months to live. She did this so that the dog would feel free. Suddenly, Maya felt like she was being followed. She walked around thinking it was her boyfriend but it was a bully. When Apollo realized what was happening, she didn’t think twice and went towards the man, who ran away.

Gatúbela arrived at Jesid’s family when she was only a month old, 2 months before the arrival of baby Samuel. One afternoon, Jesid left Samuel alone for a few minutes. Gatúbela was in the living room, watching the scene.

Samuel decided to crawl to the stairs, but Gatúbela was faster. Desperate, she hugged him and stopped him from rolling down the stairs. When Samuel’s mother viewed the security camera footage to see how the baby had gotten out of the crib, she discovered her kitten’s heroic feat.
