10 Animals That Have the Most Pups at Once

Families with multiple offspring are not uncommon in the animal kingdom, but some species fully deserve the “Birth Burst of the Year” award. For example, axolotls can give birth to up to 500 young at once. And believe me, the species is not even the most “successful” of all the ones portrayed in our post.

we, from awesome.club, we admire the miracle of life and all the creatures responsible for it. A simple look at these animals and their babies will likely make you feel the same way.

1. Seahorse — 2 thousand

Male seahorses are parents… exclusive! In fact, they are the ones who carry hundreds of chicks in a special pouch, until they are ready to hatch.

2. Axolotl — 500

Axolotl larvae hatch with a supply of yolk in their bellies, meaning they don’t have to look for food right away. By the way, an axolotl remains in the form of a larva for the rest of its life (15 years or more).

3. Tailed Tenreck — 32

The tailed tenreck, also known as the tanreco, inhabit the rainforests of Madagascar, Africa. These eccentric animals may have the largest litters among mammals!

4. Golden Hamster — 20

Baby golden hamsters, also known as Syrian hamsters, are born hairless and remain blind for about 14 days. However, the little ones grow fast and, by three weeks, they already look like miniature versions of the adults.

5. Coyote — 19

6. Emu — 15

Emus eggs are known for their enormous size and extraordinary dark green hue. The feathers of baby emu are covered in stripes, which keep them safe from the eyes of predators.

7. Fox — 12

Newborn foxes usually have gray or brown fur, which later can turn red, silver, black or brown.

8. Raccoon — 7

When baby raccoons are in danger, they make noises that are reminiscent of a baby crying. A mother raccoon can attack any potential threat to her young, so it makes sense to observe baby raccoons from a safe distance, using binoculars.

9. Field mouse — 6

Field mice build their nests using moss, fabric, paper, leaves, and other soft materials they can find. The chicks open their eyes on the sixth day of life and leave their nests at three weeks.

10. European rabbit — 5

Rabbits nurse their young once a day and spend just a few minutes feeding them. But the rabbit’s milk is so rich, blind pups grow strong very quickly.

Which of these animal daddies and babies strike you as especially tender? How many babies do you have or want to have in the future?
