Film awards aren’t always the best critics for celebrities. Our great example is Fernanda Montenegro, who did not win the Oscar for best actress for her brilliant performance in Central do Brasil.
Some results have no explanation and place some actors and actresses among those who never won an Oscar, although they deserved it.
Today, we bring you a list of actresses who should have won the award. Some are no longer with us, others still have a chance. Check it out right now and let us know if you would include anyone else.
Helena Bonham Carter
This brilliant British actress undoubtedly has a lot of talent and memorable roles on the list. Among them Marla Singer, the crazy one from Fight Club, or the incomparable Bellatrix Lestrange from Harry Potter.
She was nominated twice for an Academy Award for her beautiful performances in the films Wings of Love and The King’s Speech. In addition, the actress has been nominated seven times for the Golden Globe, but never won.
Amy Adams
Actress Amy Adams has the same number of Oscar nominations as Leonardo DiCaprio. With five nominations, she tends to appear most in the supporting actress category. Unfortunately, last year’s role in Arrival wasn’t critically acclaimed, but audiences loved it.
Demi Moore
One of the most beautiful actresses of the 90s and who will always be remembered for films like GI Jane and Ghost, from the Other Side of Life. That last film received five Oscar nominations, but she was not contemplated. Since the beginning of the 2000s, the actress has not appeared in successful films anymore, which made her stay away from the awards stages.
Keira Knightley
At the age of 32, Knightley includes films such as Pirates of the Caribbean and notable characters such as Anna Karenina and Duchess Georgiana Cavendish. Is it over there Oscar nominated twice: first for adapting Jane Austen’s novel, Pride and Prejudice, and then for her great performance in The Imitation Game. In 2015 the actress became a mother and started to work less, but most likely soon she will take an Oscar.
Glenn Close
It’s impossible not to remember the wonderful villain of 101 Dalmatians. American actress Glenn Close has an incredible six Oscar nominations, but unfortunately, she never won. The actress is simply impeccable in embodying different characters, like in the film Albert Nobbs, in which she plays a woman who has been impersonating a man for over 20 years.
Jessica Chastain
Many think only of the movie Interstellar when they hear about Jessica Chastain, but she has two Oscar nominations, one for her brilliant performance in Crossed Lives and another for her leading role in Zero Dark Thirty. Unfortunately, the actress never took the prize. Her latest work is perhaps a game changer. She is in Aaron Sorkin’s new film, Molly’s Game, in which Chastain plays Molly Bloom, known as the Princess of Poker.
Catherine Deneuve
Hollywood critics only once recognized the work of this muse of French cinema. It was in 1993, for the film Indochina. That year, the award went to Emma Thompson. Deneuve has great roles in movies like Dancing in the Dark and 8 Women on his resume. The most likely thing is that the actress will take an honorary Oscar for her career, it remains to be seen.
Michelle Williams
Michelle has been nominated for an Oscar 4 times for roles in very successful films: Brokeback Mountain, Blue Valentine, Manchester by the Sea and My Week with Marilyn. In the latter, she charmingly portrayed the legendary Hollywood star. This year, the actress was nominated for a Golden Globe for the film All the Money in the World, a film in which actor Kevin Spacey acted, but which had to be replaced by scandal cases.
Uma Thurman
Tarantino’s Muse was nominated for an Academy Award in 1995 for her role as Mia Wallace in Pulp Fiction. The winner was Dianne Wiest for her role in Gunshots on Broadway. The actress also made good performances in Kill Bill and Gattaca, but was not nominated for an Oscar.
marilyn monroe
The actress has always been considered a silly blonde by critics, which is why she was never taken seriously. For many years she tried to get rid of that image, and had good roles in dramas, but she was never nominated for an Oscar. The great Hollywood sex symbol only took a Golden Globe for the film Some Like It Hot.
