When the public learns that there is a new celebrity couple with a considerable age difference, the fact immediately becomes big news, revealing a lot about the prejudices that still exist in our society. This was proven by a study where participants rated different couples. According to the results, those unions between people with a large age difference were evaluated negatively.

When the woman is older, she usually receives more criticism, unlike in relationships where the man is older. However, couples in which the woman is older are perceived as more egalitarian. Still, psychologists claim that only women are referred to in derogatory terms, while men are typically praised.

One of the most important aspects of this discussion is understanding whether or not people are satisfied in their relationships. According to research, both men and women are more satisfied with younger partners, at least at the beginning of the relationship. Additionally, experts claim that women who specifically date younger men feel more self-confident and active.

There is no perfect answer to this question. Or rather, the answer is that there is no truth or ideal path. However, some rules can be considered: it is important that both have common interests, similar goals in relation to the relationship and other people who support them. It is interesting to observe how some researchers argue that it is not the chronological age that matters, but the perceived age.

Studies suggest that the age gap in same-sex marriages is often greater compared to heterosexual ones. However, homosexual couples with a large age difference face even more criticism, which does not prevent them from feeling united and living their differences in the best possible way, always with the support of friends and loved ones.
