We tested a trick to remove marks from used shoes and more useful tips to make them look like new

Researchers estimate that, on average, women buy 270 pairs of shoes in their lifetime and, of course, spend huge sums of money on them. And most have a huge amount of unnecessary sneakers, shoes and boots, which only collect dust.

In practice, we buy a model and put it in the closet. Then, when going out or going to work, we try on that same shoe and it doesn’t seem to be as pretty as it looked in the store. Or contrary to what we had imagined, it doesn’t go very well with any of our clothes. And so we go shopping again and spend all our hard-earned wages to buy another pair.

But things don’t have to be that way. We know how to “give a second life” to your favorite shoes and help you save money.

O incredible.club turned to the Internet for help and tried out some tips for giving these much-needed wardrobe staples a second chance.

1. Loosen tight shoes

For the first experiment, we chose some synthetic leather shoes with narrow toes. It is impossible to use them without risking pain in your feet. According to the advice of internet users, there are some ways to enlarge them and make them gain half a size more.

First method: freezing

What we need: airtight bag, water, freezer. What to do: you should fill the airtight bag with water, put it inside your shoes and put everything in the freezer. When freezing, the water will gain volume and the shoes will stretch. Result of the experiment: does not work. The shoes didn’t get any more flexible. Possibly too much space was left in the airtight bag: the water, of course, expanded, but not where it should have.

Second method: heating

What we need: hair dryer, thick socks. What to do: put on your shoes by wearing thick socks. We warn you that it will be a little uncomfortable, but it is necessary to get the desired effect. Afterwards, point the dryer (the air should be hot) at the parts of the shoe that need to be stretched. Important: do not take off your shoes until they have cooled down. Result of the experiment: it works. The result exceeded even the most ambitious expectations. The shoes widened and stretched.

The experiment was so successful that we decided to continue.

The more layers of thick socks you find in your wardrobe, the greater the effect of stretching the shoe. Proven: the effect does not disappear, even after a week.

2. Whitening of the soles

The Internet is full of tips for renewing the soles of rubber shoes and sneakers. We decided to test several of these tricks.

Acetone or nail polish remover versus micellar water

What we need: micellar water, acetone or nail polish remover and cotton pads. What to do: moisten cotton pads and carefully wipe the affected parts.

Result: it works. Micellar water and acetone cleaned the surface equally well.

WD-40 versus toothpaste

What we need: WD-40, toothpaste, cotton pads. What to do: apply paste or spray the liquid on the sole, wait a few minutes and remove everything. The authors of the trick promise that WD-40 will not only make the sole whiter, but also make it waterproof. Result: works 50%. The toothpaste did a good job, the WD-40 didn’t.

3. Remove the folds from sneakers and flats

Blogger Shantel Dé Bonsu shared a trick that helps “resurrect” old sneakers. The girl got rid of the creases in her shoes in just 5 minutes, leaving them looking like new. Your tweet With this tip, he received 350,000 likes. Internet users were quick to test this new method and we couldn’t be left behind.

What we need: socks / old clothes / paper, a small towel, iron and hot water. What to do: you need to put old socks or rags inside the shoes as densely as possible. Wet the towel with hot water, place it on the folds and iron (it is better to turn off the steam function). Do not keep the iron on the towel continuously to avoid burning your shoes. The ironing time depends on how marked the folds are. Result of the experiment: Shantel’s trick works. The shoes were much better. It’s time to adopt it.

In our experiment we used 3 pairs of shoes

Women’s hiking boot made of fabric

Children’s perforated leather shoes

Result of our experiment: the folds of women’s boots smoothed out, but not completely. This trick works best on leather shoes, leaving them looking like new. However, you need to be careful: the relief of smooth leather shoes will disappear along with the folds.

Have you tried any of these tricks from our post or heard about it for the first time? Would you have the courage to repeat our feat?
