The union between Noely and Xororó, who have shared their lives for 40 years, shows how to succeed after the “yes”

The day that Noely Pereira de Lima and Durval Lima, aka Xororó, met is still remembered by them as if it were yesterday, with a wealth of details that only the most passionate couples can describe. Noely grew up in a musical environment, as she is the daughter of Zé do Rancho and Mariazinha, a country duo famous in the 1960s. When accompanying her parents to a performance, she met her great love.

The couple participated in the program Vai, Fernandinha, with Fernanda Souza, on Multishow and recalled the story. Noely said that their first meeting was at Praça da Sé. Before going on stage, Zé do Rancho asked Xororó to take care of his daughter. “I went along to watch the show and my father, when he went up to sing, said to Xororó: ‘Will you take care of my daughter, please?’ A guy kept bothering me and he took my arm and said: ‘Go there and say you’re my fiancée’. When he gave me his arm, he went ‘tum’. We said goodbye and three months later, coincidentally, we met at the circus”, recalled Noely.

On the second date, Xororó invited Noely to go out. The program: going to the movies to watch the movie Grease, which a while later served as the inspiration for Sandy’s name. “He took my hand, I didn’t say anything else. The first kiss was a week later. My father was rooting for dating. I told him the real thing: ‘Here’s the thing, you’re not going to play here’”, said Noely, showing that despite being sweet, she was always well resolved and direct.

In turn, Xororó declared that the mother of his children was his first love: “I had never really fallen in love, I was 21 years old. She is my one and only great love🇧🇷 It excites me, it’s a very pure thing, “he said.

However, not everything was a bed of roses. The busy schedule of Chitãozinho and Xororó and the success that the duo was – and still is – were obstacles that the couple faced to live their story. Noely says that the beginning of their marriage was challenging: “I was very jealous at first. I saw women’s stuff jump on stage and get snagged,” she reported.

In addition to jealousy, the lack of time, due to Xororó’s busy schedule, caused an unusual situation, to say the least. According to Noely, both Sandy and Junior were conceived on the same day of the week.

The revelation was made during a participation of the couple in the program Altas Horas: “We wanted to wait to have children. I said ‘I want to wait five years to have a child’. A year into my marriage, I was already pregnant with Sandy. That’s because he only came home on Mondays, changed clothes in his suitcase and left again. Then I said, ‘well, now let’s wait, right? Now that’s enough, we already have a little girl, let’s wait a long time, right?’ Then came another Monday, and they are 14 months apart,” she said.

In 2001, Noely participated in the painting Intimidade, from the extinct Planeta Xuxa. There, the businesswoman opened her heart, told the nicknames used by the couple, which are called Binho and Binha, and made some revelations about their relationship:

“I think every couple argues. That’s how it is, but until we can always understand each other. You need to… not fight, we need to talk a lot. So, we already wake up, many times, talking. At many times in our lives we had to talk a lot. But this butterflies in my stomach, when will it arrive, I never lost it”, he confesses. At the time, the couple had been together for 20 years.

Noely also spoke about a memorable wedding gift she got from her husband: “He gave me a CD that I thought was a card. Because it said: ‘I always wanted to wake you up on a special day like this. Surprise you with a kiss from me and show you the song that I dreamed of making the most. And just say how much I love you! I always wanted to be a poet to create beautiful words, and in each one I speak, you will realize, that the sun, the moon and even the sea, I found nothing to compare to my love for you. The sun doesn’t warm me in autumn, if you’re not. The moon, which is beautiful, doesn’t shine like your eyes. The sea is so big, I know, but it has end. Nothing is equal to the love that exists in me.’ I cried. And then he said: ‘Aren’t you going to listen to the CD?’ And I said: ‘But does the CD play? I thought it was a card’. And he said: ‘Play!’

Still at Planeta Xuxa, Xororó surprised his wife and entered the stage, singing, at her feet, the song he made for her. When asked what he likes most about a woman, he replied passionately: “I like it when she opens her eyes in the morning”, touching Noely.

And it was like this, being the foundation of each other, giving strength, support and love at all times, that the couple became so united. This aggregating feeling, as it could not fail to be, also constituted the personality of the children. Still at Altas Horas, both Sandy and Júnior talked about their parents, who were in the audience.

“I think my parents were very intelligent, with the resources they had, which was just an internal wisdom (…) to know that the most important thing was to preserve people, to keep our feet on the ground, because that way, it’s very easy for the head to fly and for us to be dazzled. And we have so many cases, so many examples of artists who started new and then went down very dangerous, complicated and even fatal paths. So they knew, from the beginning, to keep our feet on the ground and keep the family base always very strong, you know? To support us”, says Sandy.

In turn, Júnior said that this parental support was fundamental for the duo’s career in childhood and adolescence: “I think that something that also helped us a lot was a matter of… in short, it was how it happened, luck, that was our family not depending on our success, our livelihood, our work, the money we earned, to support everyone. Because sometimes it happens. (…) As my father already had his career, it had happened before. When we were born, the career was already going very well and things were already going very well, what we did was always focused on our pleasure of living from that, to the pleasure of making music, to the pleasure of living from art , to play, to put on a show”, he says.
