Technologies that will be gone in 20 years

Technology, as we know, is super dynamic. Think of the products and equipment we used some 30 years ago: vinyl records (or CDs), typewriters, VCRs, and TVs that were huge, clunky boxes.

Therefore, it is conceivable that many of the technologies we use today and consider super advanced in a few decades will also be replaced.

O awesome.club decided to do a futurology exercise to predict which items of our daily lives will become obsolete 20 years from now.

Save this post on a flash drive and 20 years from now, let us know if our predictions were correct. In fact, will there be a pen drive in 20 years?

mirrors

Audi has already launched prototype cars without mirrors, which can be purchased in early 2019. Other automotive companies are already working on similar technologies.

In addition, conventional car gearboxes and gasoline engines will also be left behind. It is possible that 20 years from now there will be electric gas stations spread across all countries. The technology, as we know, already exists. What is lacking is a supply network that offers coverage in all countries.

remote controls

Increasingly, smart technology is starting to be part of our daily life. All devices can be controlled with a tablet or a phone, so remote controls simply won’t be necessary.

Cash and credit cards

Although many people still prefer to walk around with cash, the fact is that cards are now a more than widespread technology. Here in Brazil, for example, about 77% of people already use credit cards, as shown in a survey by the Credit Protection Service (SPC). But with the advancement of contactless technology and authorized mobile transfers, even cards are losing relevance.

But, in addition to cell phone use, there are even more advanced technologies. MasterCard, for example, is developing biometrics technologies that will allow payment authorization through facial or fingerprint recognition. The technology is being introduced in 12 European countries to, in a second stage, be implemented in countries such as Canada and the USA.

Keys

In 2 decades, we will completely forget about how we use metal keys to an apartment or a car these days. The technology for opening cars using a control button is not new, but imagine that, in the future, we will open our house with a cell phone command, voice command or retinal scanning.

cables

Chargers will no longer be an inconvenience and no one will need to unravel a headphone that was kept inside the backpack anymore. Everything will be loaded thanks to the Wi-Fi waves. Cables will gradually abandon our everyday life, making our world more and more futuristic.

syringes

There is good news and bad news about the future of syringes. The good thing is that they will cease to exist, and the bad thing is that, in their place, there will be some very strange new technologies. Scientists are considering 2 options: an injection that pushes liquid through the pores of the skin at a speed that exceeds the speed of sound, or a capsule with tiny needles inside, which dissolves in the patient’s digestive system and injects the substance into the body. It’s painful? We won’t know until the new methods are tested.

Delivery services

Signature

Biometric systems will be increasingly common. Cell phones, ATMs and even voting machines already recognize a person’s identity and, in a few years, the usual signatures will no longer exist; thanks to the recognition technology, it will be enough to look at the camera of your cell phone.

plastic bags

It is not news that plastic bags cause great havoc in nature, as their complete decomposition takes hundreds of years. Many countries have already banned the use of polyethylene and encourage their citizens to use alternatives that do not harm the environment, such as fabric bags.

Mouse

Technologies that will allow you to perform various operations with gestures and eye movements will replace many of the other things we are familiar with, including the mouse. No more cursors in the middle of the screen, no more cables or batteries that always lose their charge at the most inconvenient times.

Bonus: great workers will start to be replaced in companies

They say that no one is irreplaceable. But when the employee is good, how about making copies of him? This is what the Swiss bank UBS did. The global finance giant has decided to clone its chief economist, Daniel Kalt, who is responsible for economic analysis and market outlook. The idea is to be a kind of luxury economic advisor for wealthy clients.

To create the clone, 120 HD cameras were used, which watched Daniel’s every move. After gathering information, artificial intelligence analyzed not only his habits, but also the characteristics of communication with customers.

Soon, the “digital Daniel” will begin its functions, and scientists are certain that it will be difficult for customers to distinguish a copy from the original. The project has very ambitious goals: in the future, it is planned to create many of these employees. Would you be okay with having a digital copy of yourself?
