Studies show that women with many children live longer

Mothers with three, four or more children know all too well how difficult life can be. However, this reality also has its positive side. Having many children fills our lives with adventures, incredible moments of love and a more than fundamental support in old age. But don’t think the story ends there. Experts have found that women with more children live longer, and the explanation for this is quite convincing.

O awesome.club analyzed some scientific studies that explain why being a mother of many children extends a woman’s life. Check out a little more about what was said in this regard.

Studies prove: the more children a woman has, the longer her life expectancy

A team of researchers from the University of New South Wales (Australia) studied a group of older Australian women to understand how childlessness (or having few children) influences life expectancy.

they realized that women who had two children had one 17% average decrease in risk of death compared to childless women. Women with three children showed 20% less risk, and this pattern continued as the number of children increased. But what are the reasons behind this effect of motherhood?

One theory suggests that giving birth to many children delays cellular aging.

A study carried out by a team of experts from Simon Fraser University in Canada showed that women with more children have a slower cell aging process.

Health science professor Pablo Nepomnaschy and researcher Cindy Barha studied Guatemalan women who showed cellular signs of longevity. Older theories suggested that those who gave birth to many children aged more quickly, as “the children deprived the mothers of their cellular energy.” A new study, however, ended up showing contrary results.

Cellular aging is indicated by the shortening of telomeres, the protective ends that are found at the end of each DNA strand and that shorten over life. Professor Nepomnaschy and his team were surprised to learn that women with longer telomeres had more children.

Scientists believe that this phenomenon may be related to a high rise in estrogen, which occurs in mothers of many children. “Estrogen works as a potent antioxidant that protects cells against telomere shortening,” said the professor.

Social context and psychology also matter

Pablo Nepomnaschy mentions another reason for the relationship between children and longevity. He believes that the social contexts in which mothers live could also make a difference. Mothers of many children often receive more support from their friends and family, which positively influences your physical and emotional state. “Increased support leads to an increase in the amount of metabolic energy that can help maintain tissue, which slows down the aging process,” says the researcher.

The research, carried out by a team of experts from Edith Cowan University in Perth, Australia, showed that families with four children or more are more satisfied with their lives🇧🇷 The Doctor. Bronwyn Harman, from the School of Psychology and Social Sciences, is confident that it is about greater support among family members, as well as a peaceful psychological atmosphere. “Children are never alone; they always have someone to play with and that’s why they become independent beforehand”, said the researcher.
