Slime’s grandpa creates channel to cure himself of depression and goes viral on YouTube

At 70 years old, he created a YouTube channel as a way to pass the time and, at the same time, teach children and adults to play with slime. But the simple and authentic way Nilson presents himself ended up making the channel a huge success. It already has 4.5 million subscribers and each video gets over 2 million likes.

This is another one of those stories where technology helps simple and anonymous people to gain a new motivation in life – although Seu Nilson has also received criticism and comments from haters.

Slime’s grandpa has always lived in the city of São Paulo. But after retirement he decided that he would spend his rest days in the countryside, so he moved to a farm with his wife. Former school agent, he retired in 2017 and saw his life turn upside down right after he created the YouTube channel to show the routine of the place and, later, talk about slime.

He says that, incredible as it may seem, the calmer life on the farm and retirement made him depressed, without much perspective. That’s where the idea of ​​videos and slime came from, something that’s unusual for people at his age.

The videos started to be successful because of their experiences to make a homemade slime. In the first three attempts, he failed. But, with the support of his legion of virtual friends, he ended up getting it right. The slime grandpa’s persistence was one of the factors that made him gain even more friends and followers.

One of his videos had nearly four million views, a true phenomenon by YouTube standards. And, even with some criticism, Seu Nilson promises to go ahead, since, in general, he has received the support of many people. One of the cases was that of the Korean YouTuber and magician (but who lives in São Paulo) Pyon Lee. Delighted with the story, he went to Juquiá to help his Nilson ‘monetize’ the channel, which means that the slime’s grandpa will earn income from his videos. “Today I paid a very special visit to Mr. Nilson. We help him with the monetization of his YouTube Channel. Those who follow me know that I have a special affection for grandparents, for my story with mine,” Lee said on her Instagram channel.
