Research shows that answering your child’s questions in detail is important to their success

Vocabulary and sentence structure are very important in the early years of any child’s development. And one of the best ways to engage them in a deeper, more meaningful conversation is to start talking to them with detailed answers. Researchers explain that working on developing better speech patterns helps little ones be more successful in school and in life.

We, from awesome.club, we want to share with you a way to spark your children’s curiosity, helping them acquire and develop communication skills that can be critical to their success.

Curious kids are high achievers

Curiosity is the “raw material” of any scientist, the initial flame of research that leads to great discoveries. So why not encourage this trait in your child? If well worked, curiosity can help the little ones in discoveries related to reading and Mathematics, for example. Helping your child become more interested in different things can make them more successful from kindergarten onwards.

There is a huge difference between a simple explanation and a detailed explanation

When a child is given short answers, they usually don’t keep asking questions. Under these circumstances, the little one tends to lose interest in further explanations and news. That is, you tend to lose the desire to learn more. Adding detail to your explanation will engage you and your child in a longer conversation and the child will pay more attention to what is being said.

Here is a simple example of how to act. Imagine your child is asking, “why are you crying?” Your answer shouldn’t simply be “adults cry too”. After all, that tends to interrupt the conversation right away. Instead, try saying something like, “I hurt my big toe.” In this case, the child is likely to continue the conversation with something along the lines of “where did you hit?” or “Does it hurt a lot?” Or even “how can I help?”, and so on.

Specific explanations will make your child more curious

Using more complex words, not very common in children’s universe, is, in most cases, a much more appropriate approach than simply giving a monosyllabic answer believing that going deep in the explanation will confuse your child. Don’t underestimate it. Keep the dialogue going.

That way, even if you use more detailed words and expressions, there will, in fact, be a conversation and your child is more likely to be interested and, more importantly, keep the flame of curiosity burning, which is fundamental for his development.

Both will learn new things if they are open to discovery.

The real “rain of questions” from young children can worry many parents, making them think something like: “what if I don’t have the answers?” Well, you can research things together with your child. There is nothing wrong with saying “I don’t know”. Important: When you tell your child that you don’t know an answer, it’s important to invite them to look it up. How about answering “let’s find out together?” This will pique their interest and show that you, as a parent, are also willing or willing to learn. After all, nowadays, the search for knowledge has to be something permanent and it is important to show this to your child through examples.

How do you talk to your child? Respond to his questions by giving detailed answers? How, in your opinion, can we awaken curiosity in children? Tell in the comments.
