Rescued pit bull wins photo session after becoming a mother, and exudes happiness

If finding a home for a single stray dog ​​is already a difficult task, imagine a 2-year-old pit bull who is pregnant. You’ll agree that something like this is a real challenge! We are sure that the story of the little dog who went from a scared creature to a loving, proud and grateful mother will renew your belief in the beauty of life.

Last September, a female pit bull was found on a street on the outskirts of Fort Mill, a city in South Carolina, United States. The dog was in advanced pregnancy and in need of a lot of care. The Zoonoses Center took the animal to a local shelter, and even managed to get in touch with its owners, but unfortunately, the family did not want the pet back.

About to become a mother, the mistreated dog needed specialized care, which went beyond what the shelter could provide. Fortunately, she was soon removed to the headquarters of the NGO Pits & Giggles Rescue, which specializes in caring for pregnant and just-delivered female dogs, as well as their puppies.

Volunteers said that upon meeting her new friends for the first time, the pregnant pit bull acted friendly but rather awkwardly, demonstrating no idea of ​​the concept of personal space. It didn’t take long for the dog to be baptized: the name Pickles (Pickles, in Portuguese) seemed to fit perfectly with the animal’s personality. Initially, Pickles kept jumping up and down in front of the volunteers, always trying to get attention and kisses, even though he had a huge belly. And she definitely wasn’t camera shy!

As soon as Mama Pickles arrived, the NGO volunteers realized that she would make a great model for a maternity-inspired photo shoot. It is worth remembering that, in most cases, shelter employees only realize that the females are pregnant when the puppies are about to be born. So, in the case of Mama Pickles, the team was overjoyed to have enough time to produce the photographs before the moment of delivery.

During the photo session, organized by a volunteer, the owner of the Enchanted Hills Photography studio, Lauren Casteen Sykes, Pickle simply rocked in diva-worthy poses, mixing fun looks and graceful movements with her little belly.

A few weeks later, after Pickles gave birth to 8 beautiful puppies, Pits & Giggles Rescue decided to produce a new photo shoot, as a continuation of the first. Pickle came out even more radiant next to her babies, each one cuter than the last.

Members of the organization revealed that Mama Pickle and all her puppies have found a new home! The dog even gained an older canine “brother”, who already loves her very much. The two love to take naps on the couch, lying together!

Volunteers consider that, as several American states do not have animal sterilization laws and the euthanasia rate is high, it is always gratifying to see a female dog, abandoned while pregnant, finding the chance to have her puppies safely and to see the whole family gaining owners responsible.
