Products that changed in front of us and we didn’t realize

We know perfectly well how Nutella or Snickers bars are packaged, and we can even tell you exactly which supermarket shelf they are on. We’ve gotten used to the fact that these packages don’t change over the years. But not quite. Manufacturers often make tweaks, but only the most observant notice.

O incredible.club compiled the most unexpected changes to regular products that you probably wouldn’t notice.

1. McFlurry ice cream cups and hedgehogs

In 2006, wildlife advocates demanded that McDonald’s change the shape of the McFlurry ice cream cups, or rather do something with the hole in the lid. The problem was that the hedgehogs, small and spiny lovers of sweets, licked the remains of the discarded cups and remained trapped in the lid until they died of starvation. The brand decided to support these defenders and changed the design of the lid, so that animal sweet tooths are no longer victims of this trap.

2. Hidden Signs of Coca-Cola

At Christmas time, many companies decorate their products with appropriate symbols. Coca-Cola, as usual, pleases everyone with white bears in their cans. A similar project appeared in 2016, but on the eve of 2018 the graphic designer created incredibly cute “Easter eggs” and completely unnoticed by his fans. And, if you look closely, you can see that on the white bears’ noses the glitter is shaped like the outline of a Coke bottle.

3. Is the orange no longer the same?

4. Has Snickers weight changed?

Snickers was created back in 1923 and began mass production in 1930. Bars were invented for the military, as their caloric value was high (100 grams of bar = 507 kcal), which helped them to restore forces quickly.

The composition of this wonderful sweet has not changed for many years: nougat, peanuts and milk chocolate. And most importantly: in each bar there were exactly 16 peanuts! After the war bars became more accessible to the public and especially to children. Doctors raised the alarm because it was dangerous and could cause various diseases by excessive consumption. Manufacturers listened and reached a compromise: they reduced the weight of the bar by 7%.

5. Nutella hazelnut cream color

Nutella is no longer the same! Many of its fans are disappointed, and some are even angry that the manufacturer changed the composition and did not notify anyone. The cream became lighter. And what does that mean? A German organization (Verbraucherzentrale Hamburg) conducted a study and found that the powdered milk content in the new packaging is 1.2% higher than in the previous one. This could mean that the manufacturer could sacrifice the amount of cocoa and reduce it, which explains the new color of the product. Unfortunately, we have no way of knowing exactly what changes have taken place in the recipe: Ferrero does not disclose the cocoa part and the amount of other ingredients in its product.

6. Skype “without the bubbles”

Pringles potatoes are not potatoes

We all know that Pringles chips are chips that never break in the package and they are all the same size. But at first, the creators presented them as a potato or biscuit appetizer. This product only contains 42% potatoes. The rest of the composition includes starch, flour and other ingredients.

In 2008, the High Court of Great Britain ruled that Pringles are not crisps. But, after a while, state services in England demonstrated that the product can be considered crisps, since the amount of potatoes is greater than that of other ingredients.
