39. Return to your home and tell how great things God has done for you. And he went proclaiming throughout the city how great things Jesus had done for him.

41. And behold, there came a man named Jairus, who was ruler of the synagogue; and, prostrating himself at the feet of Jesus, he begged him to enter his house;
42. Because he had an only daughter, almost twelve years old, who was dying. And as he went, the crowd pressed him.
43. And a woman, who had an issue of blood for twelve years, and had spent all her substance on doctors, and was not able to be cured by anyone,
44. Coming up behind him, he touched the hem of his dress, and immediately stopped the flow of his blood.
45. And Jesus said, Who touched me? And when they all denied it, Peter and those who were with him said, Master, the crowd presses on you and oppresses you, and you say, Who touched me?
46. And Jesus said: Someone touched me, because I knew that virtue had gone out of me.
47. When the woman saw that she could not hide herself, she approached him trembling, and prostrating herself before him, she told him before all the people why she had touched him, and how she was soon healed.
48. And he said to her: Be of good cheer, daughter, your faith has saved you; go in peace.
49. While he was still speaking, one of the princes of the synagogue arrived, saying: Your daughter is already dead, do not trouble the Master.
50. But when Jesus heard him, he answered him, saying, Fear not; Only believe, and you will be saved.
51. And when he entered the house, he did not let anyone in except Peter, and James, and John, and the girl’s father and mother.
52. And they all wept and mourned her; and he said, Weep not; She is not dead, but she sleeps.
53. And they laughed at him, knowing that he was dead.
54. But he, putting them all away, and taking her by the hand, cried out, saying: Get up, girl.
55. And her spirit returned, and she arose immediately; and Jesus ordered them to give him something to eat.
56. And his parents were amazed; and he ordered them not to tell anyone what had happened.
