Paco Grande, the Asturian who made Jessica Lange a photographer, exhibits in Peru

The Asturian photographer Paco Grande, who passed on his passion for photography to his ex-wife, actress Jessica Lange, has lived in Cuzco (Peru) for eight years, where he is preparing an exhibition with portraits to be held at the Amerian-Peruvian Cultural Center of the city. Grande, son of the scientist Francisco Grande Covián, now deceased, has an adventure tourism business for the disabled in the Peruvian city where he has lived since he left New York.

Although he was born in Madrid and at the age of 13 he moved with his family to Minnesota (United States), where he met Lange, Paco Grande feels very close to Asturias, especially to Colunga, where he spent many summers in the family home. Just yesterday he recalled those times that he summarizes in a very graphic way: “I have fabes in my blood.” Next March, he will travel to Spain with his family to celebrate the 100th birthday of his mother, Gloria Mingo. Grande explained yesterday by telephone to LA NEW ESPAÑA that his love of photography began at the age of 15, when an aunt, sister of his mother, general of the Piarist nuns, brought him a camera from Hong Kong. Due to his eyesight problems, he can no longer take photos, but he keeps alive a hobby that he shared with Jessica Lange, of whom he was a professor at the University of Minnesota, and with whom, despite being divorced, he maintains a good relationship. . Paco Grande loved working with black and white Polaroid film, which has been discontinued since last year. The exhibition brings together 30 years of work that end up linking with the tradition of portraits in Cusco. Although he has not traveled to Asturias for some time, Paco Grande is aware of what is happening in the region.
