In one of the stories, Oxum is the daughter of Oxalá and considered the second wife of Xangô, being very curious, loved and the most beautiful of the daughters. Her father consulted Orunmilá, the lord of divination for the progression of destiny, Oxum accompanied him until he wanted to learn how to read cowries.

However, Orunmila, or ifá, asked Oxum to ask the exu the doubts he had, for he had the gift of seeing fate through this oracle. When asking permission from Oxalá, his father, to learn to read the future, he replied that only Ifá has the gift of interpreting the cowries.

Disappointed by his father’s answer, he went to Exu to ask him to teach this oracle, as he was aware of the secret of Orunmila. However, she was disappointed again, as Exu also refused the request. Oxum had to think of something else she could do to get what she wanted.

He decided to go to the forest to ask the Yami Oroxongá witch to teach him how to read shells, but had no idea that these wizards wanted to take Exu through a deception. They took the opportunity to influence Oxum to do what they planned.

This iaba learned a magic from the Yami and asked to provide them with an offering whenever the spell was made. When she reached Exu, she asked her to guess what she had in her hands. As he approached, Oxum blew a bright dust on his face, making him blind.

The main Oxum leaves and herbs that are used in their rituals, parties and requests to bring their energy are rosemary, lavender, Alamanda, acacia yellow, waterpiece, chamomile, calêndula, cambará, colony, the herb-of-Santa-Maria, the herb-of-santa-luzia and the lemongrass.

In addition to these plants, there is also Fava-Pichuri, Flamboiant, Orange Flower, Yellow Ipê, Jambuaçu, Macela, Picão, Yellow Rose, Oxum Oriri and Broom. Each sheet and each herb has its respective properties that are used for certain goals such as prosperity, love, discharge, among others.
