Prayer for the beginning of Lent

“God, creator of my life, renew me: bring me to a new life in You. Touch me and make me feel whole again. Help me to see Your Love in the Passion, death and Resurrection of Your Son. Help me observe Lent in a way that allows me to celebrate that same Love.

Help me prepare to live these weeks of Lent, as I feel deep sorrow for my sins and Your Eternal Love for me. Holy Father, may Jesus send the Holy Spirit upon me, leading me in this time favorable to a sincere conversion.

Sunday

“God of infinite mercy, sometimes there is so much darkness in my life that I hide from You. I humbly ask You, take my hand, and take me out of the shadows of my fear. Help me change my heart,
and lead me to Your truth. Helping me respond to Your generous love. Let me recognize the fullness of Your love that will fill my life. Free me from the darkness in my heart. So be it.”

Second

“Lord, my God, Your commandment of love is so simple and so challenging. Help me to let go of my pride and to be humble in my penance. I want to live the way You ask me to love, and love the way You ask me to live. This I ask, through Your son, Jesus, who is by my side today and always. So be it.”

“My God, who is in heaven and always present in my life, guide me and protect me. Lead me with Your love away from evil, and guide me along the right path. Thank you for the care you have for me. May Your Spirit inspire the Church and make us an instrument of Your love. So be it.”

“God of love, purify my desires to better serve You through this Lenten journey. Free me from the temptation to judge others, to place myself above them; and let me surrender, even in my impatience, towards others.

“Beloved God and Caring Father, I am just like a child who turns his back on Your Love so many times.
Please accept my acts of repentance today and help me free myself from the self-centeredness that closes my heart to You. As on this journey through Lent, let me remember the feast You prepared for me, in the resurrection of Eternal Life . Thus being filled with Thanks and Praises to You. So be it.”

“God of infinite Love, You present me with countless offers throughout my life. Therefore, in my thoughts and actions today, I ask You to guide me to the bright, Love-filled light of Your Kingdom.
