Internet users share common beliefs about their countries that are still present in people’s imaginations

It is normal that each country has its stereotype. The popular imagination still tends to lead us, for example, to believe that it is possible to find Count Dracula wandering the corridors of Romanian castles and that French women prefer to leave their armpits hairy. However, a thread on Reddit addressing these myths completely debunked these nonsensical ideas.

We, from awesome.club, we are in favor of countries and people no longer being seen from the perspective of stereotypes. After all, it’s always more interesting to get to know someone for real. Check out what people still imagine about each nation.

Hey! A Singaporean here.

— No, we are not part of China. We’re not even in the same region. Yes, the population is 60% ethnically Chinese, but that doesn’t make us part of China.

— The government no longer fines people for any minor offence. They used to do this, but the penalty has become lenient over the past two decades. Unfortunately, that means there’s a ton of rubbish on streets that used to be pristine. Still, you won’t “be happy” if you litter or spit in front of a police officer. © notsocoolnow / Reddit

Do you agree that the above examples are just myths and have nothing to do with reality? What do you think are the biggest stereotypes about your country or region?
