What is smoking in Umbanda?

Before learning how to smoke in Umbanda, let’s understand what smoking is.

Smoking is a burning of herbs in charcoal used to release the energy power of these plants, absorbed from the earth’s soil, the sun’s rays, the moon and the air, in addition to the constituent elements of the herb itself.

Depending on the purpose of smoking, there is a specific type of herb associated with that benefit.

In some cases, it is possible to combine more than one herb that will generate a very powerful emanation, capable of creating insurmountable barriers for malicious spirits.

Despite this, it is important to note that the power of smoking is temporary. Therefore, this ritual needs to be performed from time to time.

As with other beliefs, there are two types of smoking: discharge smoking and lustral smoking.
