Girl wishes a happy birthday to her father with Down Syndrome and makes everyone admire this strong man

It’s no secret that girls have a special relationship with their fathers. They protect them, support them, or simply are the best men in the world. This is exactly how Richie Anne Castillo feels about his father. Despite his condition, he has become an example of strength and courage and proves to be a wonderful human being. She faced many bullies, but she never stopped admiring and loving her father. And on his birthday, Richie Anne spoke honestly about her dad in a very emotional post.

We, from awesome.club, let’s share Richie Anne’s letter with her permission. And there are not enough words to describe our feelings.

“Dear Dad,

Today marks a very special and very miraculous moment in your life. You turn 50 today and I am so blessed that you continue to lead such a long and beautiful life. Doctors are still in awe of it! I know you won’t be able to read this because I don’t know if you have Facebook, but I want the whole world to know how proud I am that you are my dad. I want the whole world to know how beautiful you are inside and out.

Dad, it took me many years to gather enough courage to face everyone, because not everyone can know the whole truth, because it’s so confusing. Back at school I would be bullied and bullied because they said you were different. As a child, I didn’t see him that differently, I saw him as my father. I didn’t understand why they kept making fun of me and calling me abnormal. I understood this later and it made me a coward. But you deserve better than the cowardly daughter I am. You deserve love, understanding, patience and acceptance, just like any individual with Down syndrome. Here I am, composing a birthday greeting for you because I’ve never done it. And you deserve so much more.

Dad, you are the strongest and bravest human being I know. For most of your life, you’ve allowed doctors to stick needles in you, and you’ve had surgery here and there, a lifetime of dialysis, and a long list of limitations. But you rarely complain.

You are the strongest because after all these surgeries, these procedures and nights in the hospital, you can say: ‘Wa ko mahadlok mamatay kay ni salig ko no Ginoo’, which means ‘I am not afraid, because I trust in the Lord. ‘ You always put a smile on your face, after a long day at the dialysis center or after a hypoglycemic episode. You’re the bravest because you’ve been through so much and you’ve never, not even once, been afraid. I can’t imagine putting myself in his shoes.

I’ve seen you at your worst moment, when you fell apart and said you were tired. Hearing ‘Kapoy na’ (I’m tired) or ‘Sakit kaayo’ (It really hurts) made me cry for days and I couldn’t bear to go back to the hospital. I saw you cry because your knee hurt from the liquid. I don’t feel your pain, but how I wish I could take your place so you don’t have to feel pain anymore. You lost your teeth, but it never bothered you or stopped you from eating the food you love. You always lose your dentures, HAHA! And I know you do it on purpose! I had forgotten what he looked like with teeth or with hair.

Dad, no amount of words can sum up how sorry I am for being an absent daughter. I’m sorry for not taking you to the beach more often, for not bringing your food dim sum favorite or for not visiting as often as I should. If there’s one thing I regret, it’s hiding you from my life, because I’m still the same child who was afraid of suffering. bullying🇧🇷 But I love you more than you could ever know, Dad, and I always look up to you. I’m inspired by how much you love the Lord and I’ve come to love the Lord, and it’s amazing how incredibly smart you are.

Everyone loves you and you know it. You always manage to put a smile on everyone’s face. You also annoy people a lot, but we love you anyway. I understand you have good days and bad days (your bad days are our bad days too haha). You can be mean sometimes and push everyone away including me. But it’s just you being yourself and that’s okay. It’s okay to be different.

I could go on and on about you, but this would take too long. Happy 50th Birthday, Dad! Thank you for always calling me your one and only little girl, because I always will be. I’m strong and brave because of you and I love you so much dad. I think I’m big enough now to fend off bullies. Much love, your daughter.”
