Myths about the Constellations of the Zodiac – Gemini

The supposed origin of the Gemini Constellation comes from Greek mythology and tells the story of the inseparable brothers Pollux and Castor, the name of the main stars in the group.

Both were sons of the Roman god Jupiter, who in Greek mythology is equivalent to Zeus.

Although the two were half-brothers, Leda would have generated Castor from her husband (King Tyndareus) and Pollux from an extramarital relationship with Zeus.

Therefore, Leda’s two sons became very close, and even though Pollux was immortal and Castor was mortal, they fought together.

On one occasion, they decide to fight for possession of two compromised young women, which turns into an intense battle and results in Castor’s death.

Unsatisfied with his brother’s death, Pollux begs Zeus to make him immortal. Even though the supreme god could not fully fulfill the request, he was moved by his son’s sadness and shared immortality between the two brothers.

This story of love and fraternity is very beautiful, isn’t it? If you want to check out the complete history of the Gemini Constellation or any other of the Zodiac Constellations in Greek mythology, be sure to read our article on the blog.
