You may have already wondered what is the origin of the symbols that represent the twelve signs of the zodiac. By observing the characteristics of the natives of each sign, our ancestors related it to what they observed in animals and other symbols that surrounded them. These are the symbols that are in our Silver Signs Collection!

This interpretation gave rise to what we know as astrological symbols, present in astrological charts and horoscopes. Now get to know a little more about each of them.

Aries:

Represented by a ram, the sign is associated with the head, as the animal is also the leader of the herd, the one who always goes ahead. It is also a representation of courage and aggressiveness.

Bull:

Its symbol is the bull itself, an animal with a strong and powerful structure. Determined to attack when angry or irritated, in addition to being quite possessive, the animal reflects the characteristics of typical Taureans.

Twins:

The sign is astrologically represented by the twins Castor and Pollux, characters from Greek and Roman mythology who received an eternal place in the mythological sky given by the powerful Jupiter. The astrological symbol is characterized by the Roman number “II”, a reference to duality and duplicity.

Cancer:

Represented by a crab, the animal, with its pincer legs, recalls the Cancerian tendency to cling to things and people. Still like the crab, the Cancer native hides a sensitive interior inside his hard shell.

Lion:

It is represented by a lion, whose characteristics are very reminiscent of the natives of the sign: strength, courage and leadership. The astrological symbol refers to the lion’s mane, to refer to the imposing physical size, an attribute of many natives of Leo.

Virgin:

The symbol, a virgin carrying an ear of gold in one hand, translates the Virgo quality of planting and working for its harvest. The only female figure in the zodiac, the virgin also refers to ideas and perfection, a quality sought by natives of the sign.

Lb:

Through the scales, we have the main characteristic of Libras: the constant search for harmony, balance and union, always comparing and weighing things and people on the scales.

Scorpion:

The sign has as symbols the scorpion, as the instinctive side, and the eagle, for the ability to rise above instinct. The double symbolism shows the internal struggle between the material and the spiritual.

Sagittarius:

A centaur with a bow and arrow represents Sagittarius. The mythological creature suggests a duality: the intellectual capacity and potential wisdom of man, on the one hand, and the strength and speed of the horse, on the other. The arrow, which is the astrological symbol, and ready to be shot, shows the Sagittarius man’s search for transcendence.

Capricorn:

The goat, which perseveres in its slow but steady climb up a mountain, represents the sign of Capricorn. The animal as a symbol also shows Capricorn persistence and ambition. Astrologically, its symbol resembles twisted horns.

Aquarium:

The original astrological symbol of Aquarius is two ripples of water, to symbolize intuition, which, together with the air element, indicate original and creative intelligence, characteristics common to natives of the sign.

Fish:

The symbol shows two fish moving in opposite directions, but united by a string, which refers to the dualistic and contradictory nature of Pisceans. Symbolically, Pisces natives must decide whether to follow the fish that goes downwards, or the one that goes upwards, choosing between the world or love.
