A graffiti artist creates 3D works that blur the line between drawing and reality

Graffiti is not always just a drawing on the wall. What would you say about the optical illusion and consciousness, when from a certain angle the brain perceives a 3D image as if it were real? This is precisely the hallmark of Lisbon street artist Sergio Odeith, who started with classic graffiti and now has admirers around the world and contracts with Coca-Cola, Samsung and Shell.

O Invrível.club admire talented street art and love quality optical illusions. So we couldn’t miss such a beautiful compilation of both.

Sergio Odeith began his relationship with graffiti in the 1990s, in his native Lisbon. Like most street artists, he initially worked illegally. Later, he became interested in 3D graphics, which he called 3D shadow (“3D shading”): composition, perspective, details and shadows create a single realistic image, which seems to float in front of the wall.

Many artists who use this technique dwell on the inscriptions and abstractions that seem to be suspended in the air. Sergio Odeith also has works like this.

But what brought him the most fame were his incredible insects, spiders and historical maps, which seem to come out of some parallel reality when we look at them.

We advise those who suffer from arachnophobia not to see the following photos

Some works resemble scenes from a movie or a computer game
