Recording a film requires the work and responsibility of hundreds of professionals. However, even movies with a huge production team and a big budget miss some details. But some of these errors are so discreet that only the most attentive people can notice.
O awesome.club listed some continuity errors in romantic movies that only the biggest fans could spot.
1. PS I Love You
PS Eu te Amo tells the story of a woman who discovers that her late husband left her ten messages to start a new life. Looking closely at minute 53:13, at the moment when Hilary Swank receives the clothes from the laundry, it is possible to notice that a painting with drawings of balloons turns into another with the image of a bird. Strange, isn’t it?
2. Diary of a Passion
The Notebook is one of the most popular romantic dramas of recent times. However, we notice that by the time Allie runs towards the water, her hair is completely dry; in the next image, her hair looks wet, even though she hasn’t been hit by any waves.
3. La La Land: Singing Seasons
The first musical number of La La Land: Cantando Estações is so overwhelming that it is difficult to understand all the details. However, there is a small continuity error that reveals that the scenes were shot on different days. At a certain point, the music stops and we see a woman in a yellow dress; in the next moment the shadows of the dancers appear different from the original position.
4. A Love to Remember
A Walk to Remember is a classic teen romance from the early 2000s and stars Shane West and Mandy Moore in the lead roles. Their love seems so magical that it apparently makes objects disappear. At minute 11:40, when the character Jamie enters the scene, she appears with a backpack on her back; in the next scene, the backpack simply disappears.
5. Mamma Mia! The film
Mamma Mia! The Film took us back to the great successes of the ABBA group through the voices of a great Hollywood cast. However, that doesn’t mean the film hasn’t made minor mistakes. During the presentation of the song Money, money, money, for example, when Meryl Streep’s character enters the kitchen, it is possible to see a newspaper resting on the table; in the next scene, he just isn’t there anymore.
6. Letters to Juliet
Letters to Juliet is a romantic drama starring Amanda Seyfried. In it, her character tries to help the character played by Vanessa Redgrave to find a love that she lived in her youth. In the scene where Redgrave’s character fixes the protagonist’s hair, at one moment there are strands of Amanda’s hair and the next, her hair seems completely tied up.
7. Like It’s the First Time
As if It Was the First Time is a film that captivated many people, both for the plot and for the excellent chemistry between Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. The story gripped us so much that we were able to notice the sudden transformation that takes place on the table between minutes 32:20 and 32:25. One moment there’s a glass of water on the table and the next it turns into a cup of coffee.
8. My Best Friend’s Wedding
My Best Friend’s Wedding is one of the most famous romantic comedies of the 90s and consolidated Julia Roberts, who had already been very successful in Pretty Woman, as a great actress.
The story is really great, so it’s hard to spot the little mistakes. For example, in the scene where Jules catches up with Michael at the train station, you can see two employees with a silver suitcase. But that happens before she sits down next to him. When she is already seated, the suitcase goes back through the same place.
9. Simply Love
Simply Love is a very successful romantic comedy, features a strong cast and tells interesting and moving stories at the same time. In such a large production it is natural that some details go unnoticed. In the scene where Andrew Lincoln’s character shows Keira Knightley her wedding video, there are some objects on top of the furniture where the television is; at the end of the video, the objects simply disappear.
10. A Place Called Notting Hill
A Place Called Notting Hill is one of the most famous romantic comedies of all time, mainly because it talks about the impossible love between a bookshop owner, played by Hugh Grant, and a movie star, played by Julia Roberts.
At the beginning of the film, the two clash, soil their clothes with orange juice and the encounter ends with a kiss in the actor’s apartment. However, at a certain moment he has his shirt stained and in the next shot, when the actress leaves, the stain is magically eliminated. Was it the force of love? The question remains.
Are you in the habit of noticing these types of mistakes in movies? Do you think they are all really mistakes or do you also have the impression that they are inaccuracies left on purpose for viewers to try to find them?
