8 Laws that govern the lives of stupid people

We’ve all been there: we do something and only later realize that it was a totally stupid action.

To reduce the number of such moments, the awesome.club reveals below 8 rules of behavior avoided by intelligent people.

Read on and remember that being stupid and just looking stupid are two very different things. After all, smart people don’t care what others think.

At the end of the post, a bonus shows how to behave when committing a stupidity.

8. Be categorical

The ability to see things from different sides and admit that your idea may be wrong is a characteristic of intelligent people. Whereas an idiot person is categorical and rejects other points of view. The famous scientist Charles Darwin said: “Ignorance breeds more trust than knowledge.”

Researchers have conducted several studies on the subject and concluded that the less a person knows, the more he believes he is right. The phenomenon is called the Dunning-Kruger effect.

7. Always wanting to be right

This rule is a consequence of the previous one. If an intelligent person supposes that any of his opinions may be wrong, he will not try to prove he is right. Why:

it is a waste of time and energy; constant pretensions to truth irritate other people; the desire to always be right deprives us of the opportunity to hear other opinions, which greatly limits horizons.

6. Hold a grudge

Resentment is the inability or unwillingness to analyze what has happened. Why:

Perhaps the other person’s actions were involuntary. So it makes no sense to be offended. Or, on the contrary, the person’s objective was to annoy you. And why are you going to let yourself be provoked? Or maybe the person who offended you doesn’t even deserve your attention. So it’s better to cut off any kind of relationship with her.

It is possible to understand all of this by correctly assessing the situation, something impossible to do when there is still resentment stored.

5. Respond to aggression with more aggression

A team from the University of Michigan, USA, found a direct link between aggressive behavior and IQ level. The greater the aggression committed, the lower the level of intelligence🇧🇷 Experts have pointed out that, if in the formation of the individual, a low level of development causes a tendency to aggression, when the person is an adult, the exact opposite happens. Destructive behavior impedes the development of the intellect.

4. Stopping after the first failure

We can talk a lot about failures that improve us as a person. They mature us and help us find alternatives to problems. But examples from real people are always more convincing.

In the letter above, the director of a recording studio refuses to sign Madonna, considering that the singer was not ready. When a contract was finally signed for that same album, over 10 million copies were sold worldwide.🇧🇷 Another example? JK Rowling received 14 negatives before the publication of the book “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone”.

3. Be guided by the opinion of others

You may even think that people who value other people’s opinions are shy and correct. But it is more common for them to think that the world revolves around them, and that all the attention of others is on them.

The fact is that your neighbors, colleagues and other people are busy with their own affairs. And if they are now paying attention to the clothes you wear or who you came to work with, that thought will be dropped in a few minutes. If not, it’s because these people are willing to lose their own lives talking about yours. If so, what is the value of the opinion of people like that? Those who are intelligent use only their own ideas as a guide. And also the current laws, of course.

2. Pursue perfection

You have to chase your dreams and be happy. And these concepts have nothing to do with perfection. Why perfection doesn’t exist anywhere🇧🇷 After all, the goals of people who seek perfection are abstract. Not to mention that indiscriminate perfectionism is the shortest path to depression. Or do you think an intelligent person hurts himself?

1. Trying to impress others

The desire to impress with apparently clever words or with a newly launched gadget is present in many people. And that really impresses, not because of the words or the gadget, but because of the stupidity of the person. Especially when the words are mispronounced or the expensive device was purchased with loan money.

Of course, there’s nothing wrong with buying an iPhone X. But when a person compromises their quality of life (by taking out a loan, for example) just to hear “Damn, you’ve got an iPhone X!”, what can we think about your intellectual level?

Bonus. Thinking all the time about the mistakes already made is another typical thing for stupid people
