When Turkey comes to your mind, you’re sure to imagine a scene full of color and joy. Its great cultural heritage has had a huge influence on the country’s architecture, food and traditions.

The first thing to see in Turkey is its incredibly colorful traditional bazaars. People from all over the world come here to haggle and get the best deals on handmade rugs, ceramics, mosaic lamps, pashminas, spices, nuts, Turkish sweets and other items.

A great idea after visiting a local shop is to taste some delicious food typical of the country. Because of its location, Turkish cuisine combines flavors from the East and the West. Because of its very favorable climate, Turkey has a huge variety of vegetables and fruits, which ends up influencing the diversity of regional cuisines.

Savor a delicious meat-based dish like Turkish kebab or an amazing Turkish bread called Simit.

To experience Istanbul, take a walking tour of the city or ride the famous red tram. It connects Taksim Square and Tünel Square via Istiklal Caddesi Avenue. It is a tourist attraction and doesn’t take you very far as it travels only 1.64 km. The tram is not very fast, which allows you to enjoy the architecture, the city and the boulevard along the way.

Turkey is home to some of the most important and amazing mosques in the world. Istanbul has more than 3,000 of them scattered throughout the city. Beautiful buildings crisscross the skyline and should be on the must-visit list of every tourist visiting the city.

Inside the mosques, you can get a greater sense of the wealth inherited from Islamic art. They are open to non-Muslim visitors outside of prayer hours. Visitors visiting mosques must dress discreetly and women must wear a scarf to cover their heads.

A mistake that many make when traveling to Turkey is visiting Istanbul alone. The country has several places in terms of tourism. For example, Pamukkale is a must-see for anyone visiting the country. The area is known for its incredible cotton-like limestone landscape formed by mineral-rich waters.

Cappadocia is another lovely place to visit in Turkey. The place is known for its incredible rock formations known as fairy chimneys and for its underground cities and caves.
