9 Proofs That Draco Malfoy Was A Nice Guy

From the first meeting between the characters, Draco showed great interest in Harry and immediately offered him his friendship. Unfortunately, Malfoy made a bad impression and received immediate rejection from Harry. It is possible that he felt his pride was hurt, and for that reason he began to harass and bully Potter.

By the way, in Harry Potter and the Cursed Childwhich chronicles the adult lives of the main characters, Malfoy admits that he always envied Harry because he had real friends.

Apparently, Draco was a very good student at school. After all, Slytherin (his home at Hogwarts) won the school’s first cup by a wide margin. Draco’s talent was also noticed by Professor Snape, although he is known for not giving him much praise.

During the Quidditch World Cup, Malfoy warned Hermione of the impending danger, though always using inherent sarcasm. “Isn’t it better if you hurry now? You don’t want your friend discovered, do you? – indicating Hermione with her head. Then he explained bluntly: “Granger, they’re Muggle hunting,” said Malfoy. It sounded rude, but it was enough for Hermione and her friends to head off looking for the rest of the Weasleys in the opposite direction.

In the sixth book of the saga, Malfoy appeared to intentionally sabotage Dumbledore’s murder. The Headmaster of Hogwarts himself observed: “You have been trying, with increasing desperation, to kill me all year. Forgive me, Draco, but your attempts have been ineffective… so ineffective, to be honest, that I wonder if, deep down, you really wanted….” In the movie, after talking to Dumbledore, Draco had already lowered his wand pointed at the headmaster, but at that moment Snape appeared and completed the task that Malfoy had started.

Draco agreed to Voldemort’s dangerous mission to save his family from the Dark Lord’s revenge for the wrongs of his father — Lucius Malfoy. “He told me to do this or he’ll kill me. I have no choice!” said Malfoy to Dumbledore.

Also in the sixth book, Malfoy befriended the Moaning Myrtle, although in life she was a “Mudblood”, that is, born into a family of Muggles (people who are not witches).

Myrtle noticed that Draco was very impressive. When she met Harry, she said the following about her new friend: “He’s alone, nobody talks to him, but he’s not shy about showing his feelings and crying!”

In the movie Deathly Hallows — Part 2, Malfoy pretended not to recognize Harry while he was bewitched to buy time and save him from Voldemort. In one of the final parts, Draco does not allow his friends to disturb Harry in the Room of Requirement while he is looking for one of the Horcruxes. Looks like Draco wanted to help him complete the quest.

Malfoy turned out to be a good husband. In Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, he loses his wife and remains a widower. Draco takes care of his son alone and often misses Astoria Malfoy (his beloved’s name).

“Do you know what I loved most about your mother?” he said to his son. “She always helped me find light in the darkness. She made my world—at the very least—less…dark.”

In the same book, Malfoy accepts Scorpius as he is and makes sure he is happy. And he tries not to treat his son any differently than his father Lucius treated him. Draco shares his memories with Scorpius: “I never seriously thought about working at the Ministry of Magic. Even in childhood. That’s all he ever wanted. I didn’t… basically, I wanted to be happy.”

A magical item as important as the magic wand proves that Draco has always been on the side of good. The core of the object was made of unicorn hair and, according to JK Rowling, it is difficult for this type of wand to resort to the service of the dark forces.
