8 Royals Who Went to University (and What Their Courses Are)

Most people aspire, after completing high school, to have access to university education in order to develop professionally in their chosen field. And this is no exception when it comes to members of the British royal family. Some of them, like Queen Elizabeth II herself, did not have this type of training, but opted for others, such as a military career, as in the case of Prince Harry. Even so, many of them also have university degrees.

O awesome.club researched which courses were chosen by members of British royalty and was surprised by some of them.

The Duke of Cambridge, after joining the British Army in Belize, among other activities during the gap year after finishing high school, joined the University of St. Andrews in Scotland to study Art History, although he later decided to change careers, studying Geography.

3. Kate Middleton

The Duchess of Cambridge, after finishing her high school studies, decided to take a gap year in which, among other things, she studied at the British Institute in Florence, Italy. Then, in 2001, she entered the University of St. Andrews to study Art History, where she met her current husband, Prince William.

4. Meghan Markle

Unlike most members of the royal family, the Duchess of Sussex opted for a dual career, choosing Theater and International Relations at Northwestern University in the United States, where she graduated in 2003. During this time, she also took the opportunity to study Spanish and French.

Richard of Gloucester is the youngest grandson of King George V. This member of the Royal House of Windsor studied architecture at Cambridge University, earning his bachelor’s degree in 1966. He planned to dedicate himself entirely to his career, but after the death of his eldest brother, took on greater responsibilities as the next Duke of Gloucester after his father’s death.

7. Princess Beatrice

Beatrice of York is the daughter of Prince Andrew, Duke of York, and the granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II. During her time at the University of London, she studied Art History and graduated in History and History of Ideas, graduating in 2011.

8. Princess Eugenie

Princess Eugenie is the Duke of York’s second daughter and a granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II. After graduating from high school in 2008, she also took a gap year to later study English History of Art and Literature at Newcastle University, completing her studies in 2012.
