7 Brazilian cities where you can experience the magic of Christmas

The end of the year is approaching and many Brazilian cities have prepared themselves to offer an unforgettable Christmas decoration. Some of them are known; others, not so much.

The performances of the famous paranaense capital choir are super famous. In its 28th edition, with the theme “Tempo de Sonhar”, the group performs with Christmas carols on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at Palácio Avenida. But Curitiba’s Christmas schedule also has other incredible attractions, all free.

Probably the most famous city in Brazil when it comes to Christmas decoration. The city holds the 33rd edition of the consecrated Christmas light, with many concerts and events. The event creates sensations and thrills the audience, making everyone want to come back. The schedule runs from October 25th to January 13th, and tickets for each show are available on the Natal Luz website.

A Christmas tradition in São Paulo. The tree is a big tourist spot already in the weeks leading up to Christmas. The first time it was mounted was in 2002, with 50 meters high.

After several incidents – such as in 2015, when the tree was knocked down by the wind – and due to the lack of a sponsor, in 2017, the attraction, which had been mounted for 19 years, could not be presented. But this year, the beautiful tree, which floats over the pond, is back.

The city, less than two hours from São Paulo, has one of the most decorated Christmases in the state. Throughout the year, schools, citizens and the City Hall mobilize to collect pet bottles, remove garbage from the environment and bring the Christmas glow to thousands of tourists. During the season the public can honor several attractions.

Little Finland, as the city is known, which is on the border of Rio and São Paulo is a kind of open-air mall. It has several shops selling hot chocolate, handicrafts and snacks. But the highlight at this time of year is really Santa Claus House. One of those places that make you want to hug with so much cuteness!

The performances at Parque Vila Germânica, by Magia de Natal, bring together dozens of shows, including six themed parades and 12 other attractions. One of these attractions is the delivery of the keys to the city to Santa Claus, on the first day of the event, when there is also a parade. The activities run until December 30th and entry to check out the decor is free.
