6 mistakes many women make when buying the right bra

Did you know that women often end up buying the wrong bra size? Well, according to a survey, about 80% do not wear the right size and at least 70% of them end up buying a model that is too small. The result, in addition to discomfort throughout the day, is headaches and skin irritation. In the long run, the wrong size can even cause frequent headaches and even posture problems.

Thinking of helping you figure out if you’re wearing the wrong bra size, the awesome.club separated 5 signs that you need to be aware of, as they indicate that this may be happening. Check out!

1. Close the bra by attaching it to the last hook

It is quite common for women, when buying a bra, to use the last hook when trying it on. But this is wrong! The ideal is to attach the clasp to the first hook, which is the loosest. The middle and last ones are used so that when the fabric begins to sag due to daily use and washing, the bra can continue to fit comfortably.

2. Don’t leave a space — at least two fingers — between your skin and the middle band

3. Continuing to buy a size or model that causes rib or back pain

One of the signs that you may be wearing a bra that is the wrong size is that you frequently experience pain in your back or ribs, even if there are no visible marks on your skin. These pains happen because of many things: the obvious, because he is too small and squeezes, forcing the shoulders and squeezing the ribs; or for being too big and unable to support the weight of the breasts.

4. Choose a model that does not allow freedom of movement

Do you feel trapped when wearing a bra and can’t bend over or move your shoulders freely? Then it might be too small for you! As we explained earlier, a wrong bra prevents movement, as it squeezes where it shouldn’t, impairs circulation and even causes difficulty breathing. For very small people, however, the straps and cup can move around and need to be adjusted frequently.

5. Choose a model that squeezes and makes you sweat a lot

We know that with the heat in Brazil it is normal to sweat throughout the day. However, if this happens mainly in the breast area and even when temperatures are not high, it may be an indication that the bra you are wearing is not the right size.

What happens is that when it is too small, it ends up pressing and rubbing the skin, which impairs the heat exchange with the environment. The result is excessive sweating, which can cause everything from discomfort to skin irritation.

6. Not checking the correct position of the bowl rim

Underwire bras are great for giving your breasts more support and even shape. But for this to happen comfortably, care must be taken that it does not rest on the breasts. It should go around it and rest directly on the chest. When this doesn’t happen, the rim ends up tightening and causing pain throughout the day.

Bonus: Pregnant women need more support

The female body changes a lot during pregnancy, especially the breasts, due to the production of breast milk. Therefore, bra sizes often change and sometimes it may be necessary to choose a different model than usual. The first thing to pay attention to during this period is to choose a bra with wider straps, which better accommodate the weight of the breasts and bring more comfort. The bulge can also help, preventing pain.

Another point is that, contrary to what usually happens, pregnant women can sleep in a bra and this brings benefits to them, easing the pain. The ideal, however, is to opt for comfortable models, made of breathable fabrics, without bulge or underwire.
