1. Sugar attacks the skin and can cause spots if used as a homemade mask
Exfoliation is an important step in the care routine, after all, it is at this stage that dead cells will be removed, it reduces the appearance of acne, leaving the skin with a uniform and healthy appearance, in addition to facilitating the absorption of other products into the skin. With that, some people end up opting for the use of sugar, however, because it has thick granules, this ingredient can cause irritation, inflammation, redness and spots on the face.
2. Coffee on the face can cause atopic dermatitis
Another popular ingredient used as an exfoliant is coffee; by applying your blur to your face and letting it act on your skin for a certain time, some people believe it can bring many benefits. However, according to doctors, as the skin of the face is more delicate, its use is not recommended, as it can cause atopic dermatitis, scars, flaking, among other aggravations due to the coffee bean, especially in people with more sensitivity.
3. Coconut oil and other vegetable oils can clog pores on your face
Another very popular ingredient is coconut oil, after all, it brings a series of benefits to the body: it reduces cholesterol, triglycerides, gingivitis, helps with weight loss, strengthens the immune system, among others. However, when using it directly on the face as a make-up remover or cleansing oil, the effects may not be as pleasant, especially for people with oily and acne-prone skin. Because it is highly comedogenic, coconut oil can clog pores and further aggravate acne. And the same risk is noticed when using other vegetable oils.
4. Turmeric can stain the skin and can also cause irritation, redness and swelling.
The natural dye also known as saffron, in addition to being used in food preparation, also has healing, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. However, there are some risks for those who want to use it directly on their face. Turmeric can stain the skin, temporarily leaving a yellow residue. However, for those with sensitivity, the effect can be a little more complicated, such as: redness, irritation and swelling in the skin.
5. Using vinegar on your face can cause burns
Popular for its variety of uses, apple cider vinegar is one of the favorite natural astringents for home consumption. However, its pure and improper use can bring from mild risks, such as a burning sensation on the skin, to more serious cases, such as inflammation, burns or severe irritation. For these reasons, it is not recommended for use on people with acne, wounds or other skin problems.
6. Coconut soap causes dryness and serious dermatitis
Perhaps some people associate coconut soap as a household cleaning product, being used both for washing clothes and for other tasks. However, when we use the same type of soap to wash our face, it can end up causing allergies such as contact dermatitis, itching, in addition to causing dryness. This is because its composition may contain coconut diethanolamide, a type of detergent that helps create foam. Therefore, its use is not advisable, the most recommended option being the use of a specific soap for the face, with a neutral pH.
