5 strategies for a more balanced life

Continuous stress and the modern pace of life can unbalance us emotionally at any time. We present 5 strategies to regain control of your life below.

Your time is limited. Wanting to do everything, having to do everything, does nothing other than consume your resources and make you live with an inseparable companion, stress. Learning to walk in a more balanced way through your life is essential to focus, achieve your goals and be the person you want to be..

A first step has to do with learning to say “no.” when someone asks you to make a commitment that compromises your time and unbalances your expectations. Although it may seem difficult, knowing how to say no keeps you more balanced. In fact, it’s often the commitments we have to say yes to that cause excess stress.

The following strategies will help you find balance, cut back on your schedule, relieve daily stress, and take control of your own life.

Eliminate clutter around you

A balanced life is an orderly life. Start by organizing your environment, eliminating everything that is left over and everything that requires you to do extra work. It is much easier to keep a room clean and tidy if you only have the essentials and what is there is easy to clean and manipulate.

The gesture of organizing your environment, throwing away what is left over and simplifying the decoration, making it functional, will serve as a metaphor. The liberation you will feel by organizing and simplifying your environment is the same one you will feel by doing the same with your life.

Don’t look for excuses saying that you don’t have help, that no one else around you takes care of it and that you are tired of always having to do it yourself. Set an example and provide the means to make it easier for everyone to maintain order, both externally and internally.

Delegate

Both personally and professionally, it is very difficult to maintain control of everything.. Wanting to supervise and organize absolutely everything creates stress and anxiety, especially when others realize that you carry all the responsibility.

Give confidence to those around you and delegate part of the responsibilities to them. Tell them what you want and what you expect from them, but give them the freedom to do it as they see fit, because that way they will do it more comfortably. Put aside perfectionism, be flexible and celebrate the work done.

Made better than perfect

Apply the same rules to yourself. Be flexible and seek to do things as best as possible, leaving perfectionism aside.. Seek to give your best at every moment, but do not insist over and over again to do the same thing a little better if what you have done is enough. Wait for the next opportunity to do better.

If you can take shortcuts, take them. Taking longer or complicating your life with an action does not necessarily improve the execution or the results of it.. Identify your priorities and dedicate the bulk of your time to them, looking for a way to do everything else simply.

Live in the present, think about the future

You live your day to day life today and you have to plan it to get the most out of it. When you get down to work, don’t forget that tomorrow will be another day and then another will come and then another. Planning your day to day well, seeking personal balance, is a habit that bears fruit in the short, medium and long term.

It’s not about making a great plan. It is about planning daily, thinking about future goals and the psychological, emotional and physical consequences of going 200%. All the decisions you make today will influence how you will be tomorrow.

Awaken your inner child

Do you remember when you were a child and everything seemed fun to you, when you did things for pleasure? Not everything we do has to be a mere instrument to obtain external reinforcement, such as a title, a job or financial remuneration or compensation.

Don’t pass on everything that simply amuses you or makes you enjoy. Although it does not directly improve your economic or work situation, it will provoke a positive state of mind in you that can easily be spread to the rest of the facets of your life.

Having fun, playing or exploring will help you rest your mind, relieve the daily weight you carry. This will allow you to return charged with energy, with new ideas and with a fresh mind and spirit.

You are not a machine with a button to reset yourself at any time. To “clear your internal cache” you need to make the decision to dedicate some time to yourself. Bring out your inner child, the one who does things for pure fun and who enjoys the simplest and most authentic things.
