Our daily lives are very hectic. That’s why we often go through the same paths, see the same people, but we don’t really observe what surrounds us. Many of us can feel as if we live in an ordinary, boring and boring world. Others may lose the ability to be surprised by everyday life. But a Malaysian artist wants us to get those skills back. Even though Tang Yau Hoong studied Mechanical Engineering, drawing always caught his attention, and right after graduating from college, he took up work as an illustrator. Currently, he draws cartoons in his spare time, and is able to make the ordinary extraordinary.
O awesome.club separated some of his drawings to share with you and help the artist achieve his goal: to make people smile and reflect.
When a professional crisis redirected your path
After working for 10 years as an illustrator, Tang Yau Hoong went through a low point in his career, which made him reflect on what he really wanted to achieve with his art. He was frustrated that he always had to stick to one type of drawing style. It was then that he realized that he didn’t need to restrict his imagination and inspiration: he started illustrating comics with ideas that came to mind in his routine, giving life to characters inspired by more mundane beings and objects.
With this, he seeks to fill the most common elements and events with magic. “I hope the drawings are able to make people smile and turn our daily lives into an inspiration”. Tang Yau Hoong shared with Bright Side what his favorite comic is: the one you can see above. We believe it clearly describes the message he seeks to convey to his 100,000+ followers on Instagram and Facebook.
