19 Animals That Seized the Initiative and Found a New Owner

Normally, it is us humans who choose pets. First, we looked for information about our favorite breeds, their behaviors and necessary care. Then we visited a shelter to meet animals ready to move to a new home. This can also be a spontaneous decision to make a homeless cat or dog part of your family. Sometimes, however, not everything goes exactly as expected, and the choice ceases to depend solely on people.

We, from awesome.club, we think that if an animal chooses you as its owner, it is impossible to resist. “What’s left” is to love your new pet, feed it well, and never abandon it.

“I’m allergic to cats, but she chose me. I’m a daddy now

“This is my living room, and I don’t have a cat”

“I was on my way to work when this mouse-sized kitten came out of nowhere and climbed onto my hood.”

“I couldn’t get it out myself and had to go back home. At home, this ‘jumper’ went down smoothly without my help, and I was late for work.”

“She ran towards our car. We took the poor thing home and tried to find a new owner for her, but no one offered. We now have three dogs.”

“He was a ferocious three month old puppy when I rescued him and would only let me touch him”

“At that time I had no plans to have a pet, but we have been together for almost 10 years.”

“11 years ago, a black cat ran in front of us with her kittens. I called them, but they hid behind bushes. Only this one strayed from his mother and approached me.”

“Two years ago, I ran into my best friend in a gym parking lot.”

“Thank you for letting me hold you and for choosing me as your owner. I don’t know your birthday, but you definitely deserve a party.”

“He was sitting under our fence. Although our ‘sausage’ spent all morning barking at him, the kitten didn’t go away. My husband is not very fond of cats, but he agreed to adopt this one without batting an eye.”

“I spent the whole summer chasing the neighbor’s cat out of our garden and when it got cold she started jumping in through the window at night and sleeping with us”

“Since then, I started closing all the windows. But once, my husband and I went away for the weekend. When we got back, we found her sleeping in the armchair. It turned out that I had left the greenhouse window ajar. How did she manage to jump so high, other than open it? Anyway, she won that fight and I let her live with us.”

“On the way to work, I took out the garbage. I heard a whine coming from the bin (the thermometer read -10°C) and saw two fur balls staring at me.”

“In November of last year, she showed up at my work door”

“I shared a post about her on social media to find her owners, but someone wrote that she looked like a stray cat that had been rummaging around in the neighborhood dumpsters. Now she lives with me and is healthy and happy.”

“The neighbors cat offered to live in our house”

“This is Grisha. Last month I found him ‘screaming’ on his doorstep with a broken wing.”

“I wrapped the bird in a towel and, of course, ran to the vet. Unfortunately, he won’t fly again, but he knows how to run really fast.”

“She was waiting for us at the door of our apartment. When we opened the door, she came in by herself and laid down on the sofa, as if she had always lived with us”

“On Christmas Eve I went with my daughter and son-in-law to church. The snow was knee-deep. Suddenly, a puppy ran up to us, sat down next to us and started crying desperately.”

“I wrapped the poor thing in my coat and took him home. He was the size of my hand. We called him Noel (from the French word, ‘Christmas’).”

“A homeless female brought her kittens to the front door and kept insisting they go inside.”

“That morning, the first thing I saw right after I opened my eyes was this ‘refugee’ family. First, I took a box with a blanket outside, but they got out of it and fell out of the entrance. Finally, I housed them all.”

“Three years ago, on one of the coldest February days here in the northern hemisphere, we rescued a dog at a gas station. A month later, she found a kitten in the bushes. She seems to be proud to have saved another friend’s life.”

“I already had two cats and didn’t intend to adopt another one. Everything changed after visiting a friend of mine, a creator of kurilian bobtails🇧🇷

“As soon as I sat down, he climbed into my lap. It was the moment he chose me to spend the entire afternoon together, not letting anyone get close to me. At night he lay on my shoulder and I fell asleep listening to his loud purring. In the morning I called home, asking, ‘Can I come back with a date?’”

“I went for a walk with my family, and a ginger kitten followed us meowing”

“I thought, ‘We have two young children and we’ve just finished renovating the house—we can’t afford to adopt a cat.’ Well, his name is Vasily and he has been with us for four years now.”
