15 Amazing, fun and different themed restaurants and cafes around the world (and in Brazil too)

For some time now, themed restaurants, bars and cafes have conquered the world, attracting people interested not only in having a delicious meal, but in living a different experience or fantasy. They are fun, crazy ideas, some even of dubious taste… But the truth is that there are themed restaurants for all profiles.

You can be a dreamy girl who believes in the energy of unicorns, a young man geek who knows everything about games and comics, an adventurous soul who dreams of the battles of the Middle Ages or someone who doesn’t miss a good detective story for anything. Do you want to bet that there is a place with a theme that is just like you?

O awesome.club gathered 15 magical bars, cafes and restaurants that are worth visiting, in various parts of the world and in Brazil as well. Let the journey begin!

1. Unicorn Cafe (Bangkok, Thailand)

Everything, absolutely everything, is decorated with a unicorn or a rainbow at Unicorn Cafe in Bangkok. The house is full of plush toys and those who want to get in the mood can even wear a unicorn costume to take the cutest pictures on the planet.

For those who are crazy about sweets, it is even a dangerous place!

Among so many delights, it’s hard to choose…

2. Modern Toilet (Taipei, Taiwan)

At Modern Toilet, in Taipei, capital of Taiwan, the seats are toilets (don’t worry, they don’t really work). Food comes in dishes in the form of toilets, sinks or bathtubs and drinks, in small urinals. Even with all this appearance that can make many people sick, the place is full and receives tourists from all over the world.

Surprise expressions are very common in Modern Toilet

Are they served? Dessert is only for those who dare!

3. Heart Attack Grill (Las Vegas, United States)

At this diner in Las Vegas, customers are treated like “patients” by “doctor” chefs and “nurses” waitresses. The order is noted as a “prescription”. Anyone visiting the Heart Attack Grill must wear an apron, as if they were hospitalized, and cannot share the absurdly large sandwiches with friends, which can have up to 8 burgers.

Upon entering the Heart Attack Grill, the “patient” receives a hospitalization wristband and is taken to the table in a wheelchair. There are penalties for not being able to eat the whole snack: slaps on the bottom applied by a “nurse”. People weighing more than 160 kilos, checked on the entrance scale, do not pay for the meal.

4. Gibi Cultura Geek (São Paulo, Brazil)

Gibi Cultura Geek is a paradise for nerds who enjoy comics, games, action movies, collecting and many other aspects of geek culture. To keep the public motivated, the bar/restaurant partners are always creating competitions, performances, exhibitions of Brazilian artists reinterpreting heroes, they keep a library of comic books available to anyone who wants to read them and they invent a thousand other fashions.

The afternoon tea tray is a special treat from the house. It is decorated with dolls of characters from the series, has sweets in the form of owls, chocolate frogs, Quidditch-themed coffee and other treats.

6. Medieval Tavern (São Paulo, Brazil)

In addition to serving fat and appetizing hamburgers, São Paulo’s Taverna Medieval has decor inspired by castles and legends from the Middle Ages. There are attractions such as archery, days dedicated to role-playing games and rune reading, the millennial oracle of the peoples of northern Europe. If you want the full experience, on Fridays and Saturdays there are Celtic music performances. If you go with a large group, try to book the table in the shape of a Viking ship.

12. Zauo Shinjyuku (Multiple locations in Japan and a branch in New York, United States)

A large boat in the center of the restaurant is another trademark of the Zauo chain.

13. Sip ‘n Dip Lounge (Great Falls, United States)

Every real tiki bar can be considered thematic, as this style of establishment requires a specific decoration, which exaggerately imitates the scenarios of tropical islands. But Sip ‘n Dip, in the town of Great Falls, Montana, went further than all. In addition to the rum-based drinks, the main attraction are the mermaids that swim in a large aquarium at the back of the bar.

Oops, a “mermaid”! Sometimes it happens…
