13 Celebrities Who Didn’t Heed The Age Stereotypes And Got Married Only When The Time Was Right

Unfortunately, there are still many stereotypes around women who are past their 20s and are single, and phrases like: “Time is passing” or “You will end up staying with auntie”, are certainly heard frequently by they. Of course, all this should no longer have a place in society today, if only because, according to statistics, the average age at which women get married in Western countries is constantly increasing. In the UK, for example, she has already passed the 35-year-old mark in 2018.

In 2015, Amy Adams married Darren Le Gallo, with whom she had been dating for 15 years. At the time, the actress was 41 years old and even joked that Le Gallo was now definitely “stuck” on her. According to Amy, the marriage brought her a feeling of consistency, which she considers a good thing.

Actress Cameron Diaz admitted that she did not consider walking down the aisle before meeting musician Benji Madden. Only in him did Diaz see a worthy companion for life, and because of that, she didn’t think twice about her response when Benji asked her to marry him. The actress got married at the age of 42.

In 2009, aged 42, Salma Hayek married successful businessman and millionaire François-Henri Pinault. At the time, journalists accused the star of having married out of interest. Salma, however, replied: “Whatever, think what you want. We’ve been together for 15 years and our love only grows stronger.”

A member of the Spice Girls, a girl band that was quite successful in the 90s, Geri Halliwell married Red Bull Formula 1 team director Christian Horner in 2015. At the time, the singer was 42 years old. Both already had children from other relationships, and in 2017 they had their first child together.

Rachel Weisz got married at age 41. She conquered a handsome man who is certainly the cause of sighs from millions of women around the world — also actor Daniel Craig, the same one who played James Bond in the last feature films of the franchise. The couple exchanged rings in a closed ceremony attended by just four guests.

Zoë Saldaña, star of the film Guardians of the Galaxy, believes that it is not worth getting married just for the sake of marriage. According to the actress, her parents’ relationship was not happy, and therefore she was in no hurry to exchange rings with someone. However, at the age of 35, Zoë found the person she finally wanted to become his wife. And the lucky one was the Italian artist Marco Perego.

Jessica Chastain and Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo, an executive at the Moncler brand, exchanged rings in 2017. Until the age of 40, the actress was adamantly against getting married. And she was even honest and told her then-boyfriend Gian Luca about it. However, as we well know, love ended up changing Jessica’s plans.

Legendary actress Helen Mirren married director Taylor Hackford at age 52. For the star, this is not an uncommon age for a first marriage. After all, according to her, many of the young women have a “princess complex” and, therefore, want to get married as soon as possible, but end up suffering from this decision later on. For Helen, at a more mature age, decisions are made wisely.

Julianna Margulies, the star of The Good Wife — For the Right to Start Over, and lawyer Keith Lieberthal exchanged rings in 2007. At the time, the actress was 41 years old. She said that she never had a good example of marriage growing up and that influenced her life until she found her future husband, who curiously is six years younger than Julianna and walked her down the aisle.

Until the age of 45, Vanessa Paradis had never walked down the aisle. The actress, however, was civilly married to Johnny Depp for 15 years, and to the sadness of fans, they ended up getting divorced. In 2018, Vanessa had the experience of wearing a wedding dress for the first time. And the lucky one who won her heart was the French director Samuel Benchetrit.

Actors Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem got married when they were, respectively, 36 and 41 years old. At the time, they had been dating for a few years, but had never commented on their relationship in the media or even confirmed it. The actors’ wedding was a real surprise for everyone.

Desperate Housewives star Marcia Cross wore a wedding dress for the first time at age 44. And the lucky one was stockbroker Tom Mahoney. Shortly after the wedding, the actress underwent in vitro fertilization and gave birth to twin girls. In November 2021, aged 40, socialite Paris Hilton married Carter Reum, an expert in venture investments. In the past, Paris had been engaged more than once, but the relationships always ended before she reached the altar. With Carter, however, everything went well and the lovebirds exchanged rings.
