Sometimes a photo ends up being ruined by a pole that has “grown” in your head or by some unwanted ‘extra’. These small details can even be seen, but not immediately, so they end up compromising a good photo.

Let’s look at our example as a reference. We have a beautiful carousel and a no less beautiful model. How do you combine the two elements? This is possible by placing the person next to the attraction, or taking a selfie at a different angle. Thus, we will have a fun and bolder image. We will be able to see both the roof of the carousel and the swings, giving the image a strong touch of liveliness. Don’t be afraid to experiment with the tilt angle when appropriate.

If you are photographing a solitary object, do not place it in the middle of the image. Remember the rule of thirds: according to it, the image must be visually divided into lines, and the recommended thing is to place the object to be portrayed along them.

Your photos don’t have to be limited to selfies or architectural works: interesting objects to photograph are literally everywhere. Sometimes, a casual photo can end up turning into a true masterpiece. Don’t try to include everything in the picture at once: watch the world with curiosity and you will see the multitude of simple things that could very well be shared.

Good lighting is an important part of an interesting photo. The difference in the two photos above is literally in two steps. The result is obvious. In the second image, we managed to capture a smoother image, not to mention that the background was better darker, hiding unnecessary details.

Rotate the camera a little and try to catch the light on the face. Don’t forget that enlightenment should fall on you, not come out from behind. Otherwise, the photo will only show a silhouette.

Too bright light will also work against your photo. Shooting in broad daylight is not easy, even for experienced photographers. Also, portraits taken in bright sunlight will most likely cause the subject to leave with their eyes half closed.

So try not to take pictures during hours of high solar intensity. Always prefer natural light in the early morning and when the sun goes down, called by photographers the ‘golden hour’.

HDR mode was very popular on Instagram for a while, and some image retouching apps even offer filters with this effect. The HDR fad is long gone, but the unnaturalness of these images remains. Leave these types of filters in the past, as they belong to the past.

Unfortunately, in the pursuit of a refined and elegant image, patience is sometimes required. Capturing a good moment is easier than then using Photoshop to snap other people who happened to appear in the photo. Wait a while and control the image result. You can!

Many photographers claim that everyone has a more “functional” side of the face, and that it is this side that should appear more in images. In a way, the statement is correct, but so that your profile isn’t cluttered with photos that look the same, it’s best to use your imagination when looking for new perspectives.

For example, you can lie on your back and take a picture from above. What is worth avoiding in these cases are the photos taken from the bottom up: in these, no one looks good.

Want to take a macro shot or frame a large structure in a single image? Don’t be afraid to squat down, leave it on the grass, or lean over in an unattractive way. After all, the important thing is the result of the photo, not the juggling that, eventually, you will have to do.

First, you don’t have to care what others might think. Second, a beautiful photo is worth all the effort.

Finding an ideal angle with full-body images is a little more complicated than when it comes to selfies. For a good result, it’s best to ask someone else to take a picture of you from a slightly lower point. Thus, you significantly increase your height. This trick works best with slender silhouette models.

In the photos in which the model is seated, everything happens in a very different way. If the image is taken from the side, there is a risk of obtaining a “flat” photo. When you click from below, you can end up causing a distortion in the image (not to mention that a leg can be pointing towards the camera, which doesn’t help at all). The result will be much better if the image is captured from above: with this, the proportions are more respected, and the surrounding landscape will enter the image plane.
