12 Shows That Had a Sudden Change of Hosts and Left Some Viewers Surprised

Some TV shows are the face of the presenter and are very successful thanks to his performance in charge of the attraction. However, sometimes it is necessary to make a change, but this change can be “out of the blue”, leaving some people not quite understanding the reason.

After more than 30 years leading Globo’s Sunday, it was announced that Fausto Silva would end his contract with the broadcaster in 2021. However, he left for the first time to treat a urinary infection and Tiago Leifert took his place. With that, the company decided to anticipate the change and the substitute became permanent, at least until the arrival of Luciano Huck, scheduled to take over the post.

After 14 years at Record, Marcos Mion was fired after having weariness with the production of A Fazenda, due to errors and rule breaking by the program’s management. Adriane Galisteu, who was already leading Power Couple, was recruited in his place.

Márcio was a success as an actor on Globo when he decided to accept Record’s invitation to present O Melhor do Brasil, in 2005, quickly becoming audience leader. But he impressed again when, at the height of the program, he decided to return to his old company and continue making soap operas. The solution was Rodrigo Faro, who received the baton live, making a farewell with much tribute to his predecessor.

TV Fama was one of RedeTV’s most successful programs! and Nelson Rubens had already been in charge for 20 years. But the broadcaster thought it was time to give it a new look and attract a younger audience. Therefore, he invited the couple Flávia Viana and Marcelo Zangrandi to be in charge of the attraction. They say it was a surprise and everything happened very quickly, since from the meeting until they went on air it was just a few days.

To change the format, which included cooking, celebrities and entertainment, the team with Zucatelli, Chris Flores and Edu Guedes gave space to Ana Hickmann, César Filho and Renata Alves, the latter two journalists. The intention was precisely to mix the relaxed atmosphere with the most serious news and service provision.

After seven editions of A Fazenda, the first presenter, Britto Jr., gave way to Roberto Justus, who stayed on the program for two seasons. The reason would have been disagreements between Britto and the management, in addition to the entry of sponsors brought by Justus.

H debuted in Band in 1996, with Luciano Huck in charge. The program soon exploded and featured remarkable characters, such as Tiazinha and Feiticeira. After three years of success, Huck caught the attention of Globo and signed a contract with the broadcaster. To replace him, Otaviano Costa was summoned, who had already been a VJ for MTV and a reporter for Domingão do Faustão. Thus, the program was renamed O+ (Positive Ó).

Rede Globo’s culinary reality show, which was previously presented only by the duo Claude Troisgros and Batista, now has Monique Alfradique showing the backstage of the attraction. As for the team of chefs, José Avillez needed to return to Portugal and take care of his restaurants there, so he was replaced by Rafael Costa e Silva.

The police program showed unsolved cases and helped arrest nearly 400 criminals. It began airing in 1990, but lasted only four months. However, it returned in 1998 and had a great success with Marcelo Rezende presenting. After disagreements with the direction, he was put on vacation and then replaced by Domingos Meirelles, who stayed until the last episode, in 2007.

Domingo Legal was one of the great successes of Brazilian TV in the 1990s, with Gugu fighting a battle for the audience against Faustão. However, in 2009, the presenter decided to leave SBT and breathe new air on Record. Celso Portiolli has always been a joker at Silvio Santos’ station, having replaced several presenters, so he took over the post and nailed it, completing ten years at the head of the attraction in 2019.

Casos de Família began airing on SBT in 2004, with Regina Volpato in the presentation. In 2009, the program’s management decided to adopt a more “exalted” style. She didn’t agree with that line and asked to leave. To replace her, Christina Rocha was called, who got along very well with the format and has already generated many memes for the Internet.

Fantástico had already been presented by Zeca Camargo for 18 years, when Globo decided to change the presentation of the program. He left to present the Video Show, while Renata Ceribelli went to live in New York to be the station’s international correspondent. In their place, Tadeu Schmidt and Renata Vasconcellos entered.
