11 Things That Are Safer Than We Thought (Sharks Are Little Angels Compared To Cows)

There’s no denying that our world can be dangerous. However, some things might not be as horrible as we’re used to thinking. For example, sharks, despite their reputation as bloodthirsty predators, are not so different from seemingly harmless cows. And eating a hamburger can be a lot riskier than climbing a mountain.

Incrível.club has studied a lot of statistical data and today it will show some things that are much less dangerous than we imagine. Our goal is to dispel fears and encourage everyone to try to achieve new achievements.

1. Shark or cow?

Despite the bad reputation of sharks, especially after the release of the movie Jaws, they are not bloodthirsty creatures. Cows are much more dangerous than sharks🇧🇷 The probability of being attacked by one of them is 20 times greater than a confrontation with a shark.

2. Roller coaster or golf?

The researchers believe that the love of roller coasters and other extreme attractions depends on the biochemistry of the brain. People with a high level of dopamine in their blood seek out this type of activity to “satisfy” their cravings. However, such entertainments are considered dangerous (and rightly so).

On the other hand, according to statistics, playing golf is much more dangerous than riding a looping roller coaster, for example. Despite its reputation as a relaxed and accident-free sport, there are often cases in golf of serious muscle strains and the appearance of herniated discs. Of course, this is not widely publicized, contrary to the “mediatic” accidents linked to mechanical attractions such as amusement park rides and roller coasters.

3. Parachute or car?

According to statistics, a car trip is much more dangerous than a parachute jump. According to data from the United States Skydiving Association (USPA), only 1 in 100,000 jumps has an unpleasant consequence. In other words, a person would need to jump approximately 17 times a year for the statistics to approximate the risk of an auto injury.

4. Crocodile or bathtub?

According to statistics, taking a bath is more dangerous than swimming in a pond with crocodiles. And this, unfortunately, is the fault of people’s recklessness: they take hot water baths under the influence of alcohol often and end up drowning. Compared to crocodile ponds, the number of unsuccessful attempts to bathe is much higher.

5. Lightning strikes or falling out of bed?

Who would have guessed that falling out of bed is very dangerous? Over a period of 10 years
(from 2004 to 2014), more people were affected by falling out of their own beds than by being struck by lightning. Lightning affects thousands of people annually — in Brazil alone there are about 130 annual deaths. However, bed falls are even more dangerous. Mainly for the elderly.

6. Elevator or stairs?

Fear of elevators can become a real phobia, as it is a closed place and full of mechanisms. Stairs are safer and healthier. Or not? According to statistics, going up or down the stairs is approximately 60 times more dangerous than an innocent elevator ride.

7. Mountain climbing or obesity?

8. Airplane or extension cord?

Today, there is another fear that is practically inherent in all of us: airplane flights. Psychiatrists have named it aerophobia. However, if we check the statistics and believe them, air transport is much safer than the electrical connections, which we use every day.

9. Lion or hippo?

It seems that the king of beasts has a worthy opponent, which could cause him to lose the rank of most ferocious animal. According to statistics, lions are not as dangerous as cute, chubby hippos. Despite their impressive weight, these animals can reach a speed of up to 30 kilometers per hour, have a ferocious temperament and destroy all obstacles in their way with their prey.

10. Snowboard or furniture?

Snowboarding is considered (and rightly so) one of the most traumatic sports. First, because many people fail to comply with safety standards and refuse to use the necessary equipment. However, even such an extreme hobby is nowhere near as dangerous as… your furniture. Furniture is capable of hurting people a lot more every day.

11. Meteor or manhole?

According to statistics, the probability that a person will be hit by a meteor is 1 in 10 million. Therefore, we affirm that there are things on Earth that are much more dangerous than the celestial bodies. For example: an open manhole.
